Off The Radar Tv Shows

Recommended Posts

Having a staff of IT guys, I have been privilaged by being given full series of TV from the USA that have never seen the light of day in Oz.

I thought I would share some gems that I have enjoyed and also hope that others have also found something different. Some have been on Foxtel and TV, but never got a following.

So Far I have seen:

Entourage - There are 5 full series online. It would be the best written show on TV at the moment. It is a story about a come fromt he gutter Hollywood star and his rise to fame, with sex and drugs, heaps of hot chicks cars and pleanty of cameos from famous people. I spent an entire weekend watching this show as it was very addictive. Just waiting for series 6 to come out.

BattleStar Galatica - Awsome Sifi series that has a stron plot and cast. Well worth checking out as it has very little parallel to the origional TV series. 4 Seasns of awsome action, hot chicks and strong storyline. It can take a few episodes to get into, but well worth the time.

Burn Notice - I did not think I would like this show at first, but hot chicks and action made it worthwhile. It also has number 6 from BSG in series 2 (she is hot ). There are 2 seasons, with season 3 just starting.

It is always sunny in Phillidelphia: I have only just started to get into this series, having only watched season 1 out of 5 seasons. Very funny show, well written, it is a bit like "How I met your mother" style.

The IT Crowd : Funny brittish show about an IT department in a company. You really need to be in IT to appreciate the comedy.

Has anyone else found a gem ?

After spending a while waiting for my fox to be reconnected when I moved I came across the following that I reckon were pretty reasonable.

True Blood - Vampires from the deep south USA.......complete with red necks, pick up trucks, hot naked chicks and gay black drug dealers.

Reaper - comedy about a young fella whos parents sell his soul to satan

Harpers Island - murder mystery series, all one plot.

Was a fan of Burn Notice on Channel 10 till they took it off, will download the episodes I haven't yet seen one of these days.

The best of them all is Chuck, which I believe is now on Foxtel? I've seen the first 2 series, they've just given the green light to making season 3.

Yvonne Strahovski... mmm...

Entourage is by far the greatest series ever made in the entire history of TV. Hands down! 27th July – season 6 starts in the states, not like I'm counting…..

The IT crowd is hilarious but you do have to be in IT to appreciate it. I often answer my phone at work with: "Have you tried switching it off and on again" :innocent: makes me laugh every time. Small things…..

Another one I love is the "Nitro Circus" TV show - but it's only on MTV. Professional daredevil Travis Pastrana and his mates doing silly things for a TV show this time rather than a movie. If I had as much money as him I would be exactly the same. Just awesome.

Hi Ron,

I have the first 2 seasons of Chuck as well, but only seen the first episode.

Yyvonne is a looker alright, and an aussie as well. oi oi oi.

After watching the first episode, I think I will watch the rest. It was a bit corney in places.

Yeah there's a bit of corn factor to it... I wasn't thrilled with it when I watched the pilot, but by the 3rd or 4th episode I was hooked. It's not especially 'edgy' as a lot of shows try to be, but for some reason it is just plain addictive. And has one of the best theme songs of all time!

Most of her disguises/outfits aren't as good as the ones Jennifer Garner used to wear in Alias, but I think Yvonne's got Jen covered in the erm, chest area. And yes we can actually claim her as one of our own, huzzah!

You'll also find his sister (Ellie) was the Gift Shop Girl from Scrubs, a bit of trivia for those playing at home.

The Nitro Circus show looks very interesting. Might have to get it tonight for the weekend.

I like these sort of shows that have real stunts and people get hurt :innocent::clap:

Yeah its unreal! They have a series of movies up to NC6 but unless you're a fan of dirt bikes you would probably never heard of them. They started out as "proper" moto videos like the Crusty series but have gradually moved towards being a mix of Crusty and Jackass. The producers of Jackass also produce the NC TV show. It's basically big boys (and Jolene :innocent:) playing with big toys and inevitable someone always gets hurt! And it's usually StreetBike Tommy.

Got some pretty good laughs out of The Inbetweeners last weekend.

It's like a Brit version of Superbad, as a series.

Not bad.

Edit: I've been watchin' Nitro Circus dvds for years but never seen the show! Have to check that one out for sure.

Bout a chick whos day rewinds to the start of the day and she has to save someones life.

Thought it was going to suck and ended up watching the whole series over 2 weekends.

Will have to get Entourage as it sounds funny as.

Yeah im a fan of battlestar galactica aswell

Wasnt aware of a 4th series, might have to track it down.

Its pretty well known now, but ''flight of the concords'' is a very funny show.

That flight of the concordes really annoyed me.

I tried to get into it, but it was a no go.

As for BSG, the 4 series is the last and it is by far the best.

I have just scheduled nitro circus for overnight download.

For anyone that wants to see what american soldiers in Iraq are really like, get Generation Kill as it is so realistic it is scary.

I can't believe no one has said Home and Away yet.

This year is the best year ever, the storyline just gets better and better and is forever changing.

I gotta get a HD recorder so I'll never miss an episode cause if you miss just one it takes forever to catch up. :beerchug:
