hey guys,

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FALCON-XR6-F6-TURBO...93%3A1|294%3A50

does anyone know the seller of these braided oil lines?

They seem to be a good deal, just wanted to know what people thought of quality?

I remember seeing these for sale around here somewhere for $300?

Cheers guys

Basically a guy bought one of the line kits that I made and copied it using the cheapest nastiest hose and fittings money can buy, then he was undercut by the guy who is now selling them. Quite funny really.

My kits use speedflow line and fittings and are larger diameter all the way to the filter which acts as a safety net, the copies use cheap steel press fittings which cannot be rotated and they are smaller diameter than stock all the way to the turbo.

Sometimes what looks like a bargain can end up being not such a bargain.

Mine cost $300 express delivered, the cheap copy costs $200 +$16 delivery so how cheap is it really?

  • Still have a turbo, it's just on a diesel.

Prime example of getting what you pay for.

LOL....

one day I'll have the dosh to replace my filter and do it right with an ETM kit. Until then thanks for bringing this monstrosity to my attention, I'll give it a wide berth!

Edit

Oh and nice picture of an XR6 Turbo he's got up there...not

Lol yeah, must have developed the turbo oil supply line for his Boss...?

Anyway, I think this thread just confirms what most of us would have suspected.

You pay peanuts, you get monkey sh*t (although it's not even that much cheaper than the ETM's real deal).

yer I fit my ETM line on the weekend and the difference in this cheap line is that all the fittings are cheap steel ones and not SPEEDFLOW fittings,

given each speedflow fitting cost around $25 this kit is not woth it hey

Its a -4 85 micron fuel pre filter. I have seen the inside of these and they will only stop rocks and small children. The original ford inline oil filter was put in place at the request of Garrett as early turbos were having bearing failures due to left over material during the block casting. Garrett would not warrant the turbo with out this filter. So Ford were forced to install one. I took mine out and thew it away. I ask you this . Ive seen lots of turbo failures from no oil but not many caused by mildly contaminated oil. If you own a modified T change your oil every 5000 or after every race event and you wont have any issues. Putting one of those ebay kits on is a waste of money. I cant vouch for the etm kit as I havnt seen inside the filter. Hows about posting a photo?

this is the kit I got from ETM..

oil_line.jpg

same filter as that on ebay, but speedflow fittings.

The filter inside is quite fine, but looks like it will flow well.
