Basically.

Locate filter, approx. l/h rear passenger underside of the car.

Use correct size spanners to undo fittings.

Remove filter.

Repeat process in reverse to refit new one.

Simple really. :tab:

a 14 mm and a 19 mm spanner

use pipe spanners if you have them

the filter is on the inside of the left hand chassis rail, roughly in line with the LH side 'B' Pillar

the larger spanner (used on filter) is only used to hold the filter still, dont turn the larger spanner at all.

just crack off the smaller end, and undo the rest with your fingers.

make sure you pull the fuel pump fuse out while car is idling unless you want a face full of premium!

That's a handy tip I may not have thought of the first time (noob that I am), cheers Trough Lolly

There's no need to remove any fuses before you replace your filter.

Just let your car sit for a while before you do replace it.

I changed my fuel filter last week at the same time as my engine oil and filter.

I just left the fuel filter job till last. No back pressure at all.

Yes there will be some fuel there as the filter will be full, but none under pressure.

Not a hard task unless someone has threaded the previous metal filter on! I had to buy an alloy one to cut the threads the same when screwing it on....

Took me 30mins to get it undone lying under the car and cranking it like a farking monkey and another 20mins to get the alloy one on by cutting the thread on and off, tightening, priming then retightening again until it stoppped leaking!

next time I'll have to buy new hoses for the car as those threads are farked big time.

Was paranoid for a week thinking it would leak and spray everywhere then burn my car to the ground or blow the engine by leaning off.

Ford noobs... must be there moto 'if it dont go, make it'!

A big thing you need to do is after you fit the filter let the car run for a while & check for leaks. Pretty common to have to nip it up abit. Even run it around the block & have another look.

I generally get the Mrs to prime the pump by turning the key to accessories while I watch the filter fittings.

but yer, a quick feel underneath a few days later is a must aswell.
