March 15, 200917 yr #12 No point trying to pin it on the tuner...No blame for the tuner, I asked him to push it.You play, you pay.
March 15, 200917 yr #13 Author If anything had to break, I'm glad it's the engine.Breaking the ZF would have been a nightmare.
March 15, 200917 yr #14 No point trying to pin it on the tuner...Who's blaming anything on anyone? I'm curious to see what level things are breaking at...Just because you drive a Holden & aren't fussed either way, doesn't mean the rest of us aren't If anything had to break, I'm glad it's the engine.Breaking the ZF would have been a nightmare.ZF build would have been cheaper than a bottom end mate...
March 15, 200917 yr #16 ouch! time for a built motor! are the BF mk1 motors same internals as BA?BF rods are a bit stronger than the BA...maybe get a typhoon bottom end?
March 15, 200917 yr #17 It was a Typhoon guys, this needs to be built with stronger, aftermarket internals next time
March 15, 200917 yr #19 Author ZF rebuild would be cheaper, but would it be heaps stronger? Will have to be forged internals, nothing less.Maybe a bigger turbo as well !So it begins, from a simple rebuild to...........Good job the mortgage rates coming down.
March 16, 200917 yr #20 Author Went to see the tuner and he's as baffled as I am.Mainly 'cos I finished the run with no/very little loss in power. He'll come round to my house to have a listen in the next couple of weeks. In the mean time he will give me some quotes on all eventualities, total rebuild on down. When he does that I can start finding the cash required, don't want to start the process of tearing it down and finding out I haven't got the cash to finsh anything he finds.Oh well, watch this space in a few weeks.
