Hey guys/girls,

I think its time I popped my cherry on this website, although I am slightly disappointed it couldn't have been on a more cheery note.

Two days ago on Wednesday my dearly beloved lightening strike XR6 (NA sadly as I'm only a green-plater) was parked on the grass in front of my house approximately 6 metres from the edge of the road, the road which just happened to be re-surfaced that fateful day. It just so happens to be that the process used in resurfacing the roads ie. the spraying of the tar layer before the dropping of the stones can be prone to a certain level of overspray. Please refer to the picture below.

Although the detail on the photograph is slightly bad you get the gist of it.... my entire car has broken out in tar freckles... they are realy no further then 6mm apart from each other, and about the size of a blunt pin. So its quiet a heavy coverage. Once again my car was 6m away from the road which I assumed would be a safe buffer zone, well ive been wrong before. I had to get someone else to call the council because at that stage I was kinda, well lets just say frustrated a little bit. Although now with a beer in my hand, and slightly calmer then before, I thought I would tell my tale and see if anyone else has experienced this before, and the best method or process to remove this and if it will leave stains. There's no way in hell I will be personally doing this solely on a matter of principal. Now time to chase the council for my car to be detailed I guess.

Andy.

By the way the spots in the picture look brown when really they are black :(.

Bug and tar removing foam, spray on leave for a minute or 2 and plenty of elbow grease. Had a similar issue mate took 2 hours to get it all off. I used turtle wax product with a bug and tar Foam pad, has an abbrasive side enough to get the tar off leaving only light scratches which will be buffed out once you wash and coat the vechile with the right products, I use meguairs.

That sucks mate, I'd definitely complain to them and see what form of compensation they can give you. Even if its a little bit of $ for you to go out and buy the cleaning products that would help

definately complain - had a road resurfaced a few years ago in gladstone and the contractor stuffed it up - tarred like 50 or 60 cars - they had to detail everyone of them
