Because what they are making is not an attractive coupe... It's a BA with it's rear door section cut off and welded together. The AU roof line makes it look like a beetle

If they ever dumped the current V8 Superfarce series and went back to a proper (mildly modified) production car series, then we may see some proper development of cars such as performance, lighter coupes with proper suspension and brakes, etc. Until then they have no real need for a coupe.

Cars such as the XY GTs and XC coupes were built specifically to win races first, gain attention and sell cars. Now they all run round in near identical cars with limits, restrictions and either Ford or Expensive Daewoo badges, yet Ford or Expensive Daewoo won't support and factory teams in the current roduction car series. Why? Because they know that their current cars aren't much cop on the track, and they don't want to be seen being beaten. What a waste of money.

You mean like this XR8 coupe? They have been making them for years.

Sweet looking car but at 90K, no thanks. I'd rather import a Mustang GT V8 which is $USD30 / $AUD45 + taxes or get a BMW 135i for $78K.

Did you know: In 2007, the only standard part on a Expensive Daewoo V8 Supercar was the accelerator cable?

There is a reason for that, the VE Expensive Daewoo body does not conform to the V8 Supercar rules. They needed to gain a special exception to modify the VE Expensive Daewoo body to conform with the rules. (From memory it had to do with the width of the wheel base). So it stands to reason the majority of the car would need to be modified to make the car slightly thiner.

  • Just because it is, doesn't mean it should be.....

I think they're a waste of time, just like the Monaro.

These are big family cars. What's the point of a two door family car?
