It's not so much the straight line speed that is the issue here, its the ability to make a chassis compliant enough and cost effective enough to stay competitive in the "Family Car" market.

A ferrari F430 is redculously fast and has an awesome chassis to contain it and cut through corners like a scalple, however the similarities between a scalple dont end there, if you get it wrong in a falcon, it will generally "safely" understeer, if you get it wrong in a 430, or porsche GT3, they bite hard and cut you like a carelessly used scalple!

Myself I think its time ford and Expensive Daewoo start investing in smaller more efficient motors.

What a horrid thing to say seventytwo :nyaah:

Wow. These things are going to be absolute machines! Not that they never were, but farkanell, they're gonna rip shreads off everything, and stock!!!

So does that mean when I tune my F6 in a month or so, my 290+ rwkw will get me to 100 in like 4.5 seconds or? Anyone ever done a 0 - 100 with 300rwkw?

I think this forum will get a whole lot bigger when those FG puppies come out...

With 315 rwkw and street tyres, I managed a 4.4 on a 30 degree night with wheelspin. I stalled to 1800rpm because of wheelspin. I reckon a very low 4 is easily achievable on one of these colder nights with a good burnout and stalling to 2200. Perhaps a high 3?

Don't forget the 315kW from the new FG is at the fly, not at the treads.

We're talking around 250rwkW for the new F6, or what most mildly modded BA/BF Ts are getting. So if you want to do comparative figures, check what a BF does with 250rwkW, but going on the times we've seen so far of the FG, the F6 should be in the 12's.

I agree with the sentiments that the manufacturers will have to consider the impact of so many powerful cars on the roads. Ideally, we should have to have special licencing to drive them.

All in all, it's a pretty good effort from Ford. The F6 should win them a lot of sales, not only from Holden, but from some of the lower end Euro market as well. It has the aura of high tech around it, and that is very appealing to a lot of the Euro buyers. And 12sec stockers were solely the domain of the Italians just a few years ago.

The car makers need to look at weight reductions as a priority rather than engine power. With reductions in weight, we will see better performance, handling and better fuel economy.

Buying a car today that averages 14l/100km is a joke. All cars should be under 9lt/100km and still offer great perfomance and safety.

Instead our car makers are adding weight and then putting bigger motors into cars to get the perfomance.

Give me a 300kw, 1200kg car with 8lt/100km and I will be happy.
