no I don't think so, I met Peter Champion about a year ago when he had an open day at HDT special vehicles (that he had just bought) and seriously didn't seem to be the singlet and shorts kinda bloke. Also the webpage mentions nothing about any monaro's other than Brocky's 69 bathurst race car.

Like Ford fans paying 750K for a Falcon aint it....spose this one was atleast made this century....

The Monaro is just a thrown together race spec car. I wasn't even really built by Holden. It'd be like someone buying a 400+kW F6 from someone on this forum because it's a 'one off', plus the thing is almost brand new.

At least the Phase III's, Brock Commodores, etc have history, class and are valuable because of the nostalgia surrounding them. Plus, they will continue to increase in value because they have a much wider scope of appeal. That new thing will drop massively from that price, mainly because there wouldn't be too many people who it would appeal to for such big money.

It's a big win for Expensive Daewoo though, not only are they getting milage from the attention the sale is getting, but considering the car was built purely for promo purposes (most likely for a lot less than the sale price) they would have written the cost off long ago.

I thought the 427 was built for the bathurst enduro, where it won 1-2? Not the actual HRT 427, but race spec Monaros

It was, the red and the yellow one. I reckon if you bought a brand new cv8z and put 200k into it I'm sure it would be better then the 920k pos

But it's still not the same car as one of the original two HRT 427's built!

No matter which way you look at it, in 10 to 20 years, that thing will be worth a little more than AU $1mil at a Shannons auction!

exchange "cv8z" with "VL calais" & "920k pos" with "ferrari" & that sounds like every second thread on calais turbo.com :surrenderwave:
