166km - 20.71L - trip meter says: 10.3 Actual = 8.02

167km - 28L - Actual = 5.96 (didn't write down the trip meter here)

you're calculating km/l, not l/100km. eg, the above works out to:

* 12.1l/100km

* 12.5l/100km

* 16.8l/100kms

Did you clear avg l/100km after each fill? Because otherwise, it's cumulative.

It's been true for me that the avg trip meter reading is always higher than the actual as measured by distance and amount of petrol to fill. Sometimes by up to 1l/100km

Back to school for me! Thanks for pointing it out, of course it's not right in hindsight, was the wrong direction and not *100-ing. I might have to be lazy and make an excel sheet to plug numbers into and auto calculate it for me. Did about a 1/4 tank since last fill and the trip meter is at 144km which works out to about 11.8 - if we say my 1/4 tank was 17L. Avg readout is 10. something which reminds me of my theory that the car can't calculate the fuel higher than 99.9L/100...wonder what the programming is doing exactly.

I just bought a BA XR6T Auto & have filled it twice, using Shell V-power(98octane). Commute to work takes 15 mins each way, fair bit of stop & start....driving it light footed with a squirt maybe once or twice a day & averaging 19.3L/100km9on trip comp)....Not happy jan! I just filled up & dumped 54.5 litres that got me 290km(works out at 18.8L/100km). I'd hate to see what I'd get if I was flogging it everywhere :(

One question: Noticed some people on this thread are claiming its more fuel efficient when using the tiptronic to change gears rather than just in "D".....any truth to this & why? I would think changing gears at lower revs(by leaving it in "D" = lower fuel consumption?

I've come to the conclusion that if you drive it softly and have constant cruising speed at leastsome of the time then it's easy to get around 15 but as soon as you smSh it around a bit and are stop starting it just sky rockets. In saying that what's an extra couple if bucks to have fun, money well spent imo

I have been driving the past 3 weeks without setting the trip computer back to zero. I am averaging 12.1/100. This has been commuting everyday into the city for work and your normal weekend work. There has been the occassional burst but not often.

Picked up my White XR6T 50th 3 weeks ago, about 1500 K's on the clock and average is down to 13.0. Living on the west of melbourne I do use freeways a bit.

I reckon that's pretty good for how I drive.

2009 XR6T ZF auto, averaging 10.9 -11.5L/100klm - combination of city and highway driving, pushing it hard when overtaking etc.

averaging 63L to fill from right on empty to completely full (68L tank).

Using 98 Premium only, generally getting 550klm per tank. Same fuel efficiency as my 2006 Subaru Liberty B-Spec 3.0L Flat 6CYL BOXER eng - very happy.
