Xr6t Transit

Im sure you will have a bit of a laugh and think im dreaming but im putting a xr6t engine into my 2003 ford transit, I already have purchased the engine set up and I have a performance and tuning center that sponsors my racing that are going to put it in after the christmas holidays.

My questions are....

I have the loom but will I be better to replace the throttle body with a cable type and run a link computer or is it better to replace the pedal sender and try run the original loom? sounds like a dumb question but the original loom idea is much cheaper!

We were thinkin about adapting the original gearbox but it seems the slightly weaker 5 speed boxes might be a cheapish option as this is not going to be a "performance vehicle" so if you have one let me know but I may have found one

If you have any other advice or tips on problems you may know of id be very happy to hear before we get under way

If you skimp now on the box you'll probably regret it down the track...get a 6speed.

I agree the 5 speed may look like the cheaper option but in the long run it will cost you more.

Good luck with the build, a barra powered transit van will be a screamer.

I love the Transits they are the most fun car!! well not really...... but in the wet 3rd gear skateing is quite amusing. flat changes are the only way though.

Good luck with it mate. the stock 5speed transit gear box probly wont hold the distance..

But A+ for the idea.

Why do you need more power in a Transit van, I have seen a chick drive a diesel transit around the Nura whatsitamythingy track in Germany and overtake sports bikes.

In all seriouness sounds like fun, go the six speed.

Yeah I That chick haulin ass around nurburg nearly cracked that 10! I was real happy with the transit actually, its my work/race bus so it will be a cool promo toy also I was not happy with the original engine cracking a piston destroying the engine!! so for a rebuild that I could trust it was looking towards 10k for the diesel or 7k for a s/h unit that might have the same prob so here goes haha budgeting around 7-8 for the transplant in total and its gettin done professionally so it prob wont devalue the van maybe even streghten its value...
