That's salesman talk.

I bought my XR6T over the phone (didn't have a choice really - only one Ford dealership up here). I found it quite helpful to call.. give them one chance to call back with a good price or I would be buying elsewhere.

No point ringing dealers for prices. They will only quote RRP over the phone. Go to the dealership and look like you are ready to buy if you want serious prices.
I went in there in person to tell them what I wanted but when I was in there it was right at the time when ford restructured the price's so they didn't really know what was going on. After about 15 minutes of him looking through books with a confused look on his face I said how about you give me a ring when you sort yourself out and then fax me through the quote, to which he happily agreed. Never heard from him again. This isn't a big city dealership either so I was quite surprised by there lack of interest as I'm sure the DP will be as well.

I've never understood why a salesman that sells new cars only, pretty much the same product every single day, has many hours in a day standing round with his head up his butt waiting for a punter to rock through the door should even hesitate when asked the drive away price of a new car.

The slack arses should be able to look you straight in the eye and tell you the price without trying to baffle you with bullshit and showmanship.

There was a few 06 run out F6's that some good deals were going. The last 06 I seen was at Gosford it was in Breeze (ok a bit girly) but wasn't a bad deal.

just need to shop around.

Muzza.

To be fair to car salespeople (and it's hard to do so), it is their job to extract as much money from you as possible. To do that they can't start at their rock bottom price. It's up to you to get them down.

You can guarantee, that every now and then, they get someone who just buys the car at the first price offered, and just like the rest of us, they do their job for money. It's a game that you have to be willing to play to get what you want.

I've got to say though, no one at the 5 Ford dealers I went to, knew much about pricing, specials, or the cars themselves. None of them had a clue what was standard, nor what Ford had on special.

All quoted me the RRP of $55k, and they even included the price of the ZF and reversing sensors which were a factory inclusion from Ford at the time.

Needless to say, I played three dealers off against each other, unitl they could go no lower. The final price wasn't even close to the original quote (a small car's worth in it).

With Ford desperate for sales, now is the prime time to really screw the prices down. And with a new model comming, use the additional depreciation a a driving factor.

My bosses bought two BA MKII typhoons as run outs early last year and paid $49k each for manuals with no options... Brand new cars with less than 10 kms on their odo's.

Depends on how desperate the dealer is to move his stock...

Do yourself a favour and use this site http://www.betterdeal.com.au

Days of you ringing around getting quotes are long gone.... It's a reverse auction site where Dealerships bid against each other to win your business.

Note: I am in no way affiliated with the above site.
