Hi,

The BMW X5 seems to be using the 'same' 6HP26 box, but of course with different housing, and with a 4x4 transfer case attached. Has anyone stripped a Z5 box to use for parts? The X5 has been around for more years, so it should be possible to find those boxes more easy than the ford ones, but maybe that box cost more since it is a 'prestige' car. Also the output shaft would be the same as Territory, since they use the same 4x4 transfer box.

Is there a repair manual for the 6HP26 ?

regards Gsimon

I got a price from Kewish Dandenong today

Not too sure why everyone is soo secretive about all this.. haven't seen one price YET!

$4,400...

Includes...

- Clutch Upgrade

- Valve Body Upgrade

- New design input shaft

- Trans oil flushed/replaced with Penrite BMV

Kewish say ZF's tend to be ok for upto 350rwkw, but after that they'll start to fail.

They believe with this rebuild the car can handle a bit over 450rwkw

David said they did this exact same treatment to a 500+awkw Nizpro Territory

Scott at SureShift Automatics (Geebung) is doing ZF servicing and metal pan / replaceable filter replacements. Don't think he's rebuilding them at this stage though.

Jman, does that price include the convertor?

I am rebuilding one atm and have found parts to be fairly cheap for a german transmission

As far as I know that doesn't include a converter.

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm under the impression that the ZF can't handle much of a converter because of the lack of editing software.

Was it a 2500rpm stall? - is that the highest used at the moment?

Can you pm me some details/prices on the parts
