In my experience, the Greens are a party that will say anything to secure the popular vote.

If the Greens were truly concerned about the environment, why did they support the Labour party and their environmental disaster of a desalination plant for Sydney? When real environmental issues arrise, the Greens absence is astounding.

Or how about their draconian closing of land policies where bush land is no longer maintained or even accessable to the greater population.

Or their insane policies on drugs. Yeah, lets decriminalise marajuana, or reduce the severity of our already laxed laws on ice, etc. That's real solid.

In the early 90s, Bob Brown stood up in parliment to demant that Bob Hawke back the USA and send troops to Iraq. He also made demands that Sadam be overtrhown and a new government be installed. Fast forward a few years and he does a complete 180 on himself and follows what he sees as the popular view.

And lets not mention his idiotic comments on David Hicks. No one is denying that Hicks deserves a fair trial, that should have been carried out sooner than now. But your mate Bobby goes as far as to say Hicks is a hard done by, poor innocent guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lets just ignore that he was caught in a Taliban stronghold carrying weapons etc, has admitted right from the start to being a member of the Taliban, and admits to training with and being involved with several Taliban operations. They guy got himself in that situation, the Americans arested him as a prisioner of war, let them deal with him. Incidentally, according to the Geneva convention, the US doesn't have do anything with a prisoner of war until the war is over.

Sorry, but we'd be better off letting Homer Simpson run the contry than even acknowledge the existance of the Greens.

the prob with the greens are, there views are very narrow and they really only represent a very small part of the population. But I think they should still be in there to represent that minority.

mate ive gone head to head with some of this party as part of a timber industry management group, they are akin to the unions in their views and blind ignorance. If you want 17% interest rates, and a country the goes broke, by all means vote for labour, that's what happened the last two times they were in, the country actually had to take out foreign loans to pay the government employees because they ran out of money, I believe that was whitlam ???? (could be wrong about the politician, but I know it was labour)

I cannot understand the logic of anybody voting for labour, that's why howard has been in so long ... hes brought in the home owners grant, the country is in a better financial position with no foreign debt, and he hasnt really put a foot wrong.

Labour is all about helping the workers, employees, which is fine, but there usually not much about helping business, which at the end of the day, pays and supports 90% of the australian workforce. I.e. when they get in, business goes to sh*t, and the country soon follows. If they were to adopt a more modern system I.e. blairs system in the uk which seemed to work quite well they would be different.

And dont even bring up the iraq war and how we should be pulling troops out, the only aussie dead yet shot himself in the head, so im guessing its pretty safe over there. iraq is not a vietnam and never will be.

Labour has been bad news for years.

As if nothing else matters a pittance? You people ponder why others vote labour? It's hard to recognise how the majority of the population live when you either own, or have the ability to pay back a brand new $60,000 car, plus a house and most whizzbangs and dodads.

Merely because you have made your way, whether it be through hard work or chance doesn't mean that everyone else has. By the simple fact you are a manager, a business owner or an otherwise entrepreneurial person means that there are people below you, sometimes far below.

People who earn less than you do. People who live a lot closer to the bone than you do. Who can't afford luxuriances that you take for granted. Not just technology but health and education. And what do you self-serving, arrogant, capital worshipping, greedy sods do? Try and stop anyone else from attaining something that you have.

As a nation, we had the right idea in 1860, but in the following years, Australian society, with what was once a strong backbone of social justice has flowed ever downward along a pitiful diluting sewer over to become nothing more than a cesspit of slavering dollar servants, each trying to push all around them down so they can have their their slice of dignity.

It doesn't matter how you try explain it away. Repression is repression. Greed is Greed and even if you are proud about it, it still doesn't change the kind of evil, self entered, slimy excuse for a human being that you are.

The ONLY reason labour got in again in NSW is bacause they were the best of a bad bunch. Polls said that 70% of NSW did not think Labour deserved another chance, but Liberals were useless.
