I have a BF Typhoon with top of the line system, but I don't recall noticing any really strong bass. Do I have to enable something or is it a waste of space. I'm thinking of removing if so and fitting decent 6x9 and splits.

Check the leads going into the amp. passenger side of the boot. I used the original ford leads on an aftermarket amp and sub, and it would periodicly stop working. Checked the leads and they were loose in the plug. A bit of solder and all is fixed.

The stock sub is a free-air 8", so you aren't gonna get a lot of boom out of it. There is a JBL 8" that is a drop-in replacement that is reported to sound pretty good for a free-air unit.

mate the laughabley titled 'Premium Sound' is one of the most pisspoor audio setups ive ever heard, EXCEPT for the supposedly awesome Bose system in 350z's with 10" sub which have less bass than a gnats fart...

if you want anything resembling a decent car audio experience, replace everything and get a new HU for the tissue box holder to run it all.

I'm not not getting any bass other than what the 5x7's are putting out. I'll check the leads, but I might just piss it off. I've never been a fan of subs in cars anyway. I'd rather have some excellent Focal splits all round or if possible some 6x9 up the back and splits in the front. Can you fit 6x9s in the car, and can you easily fit some 6.5" splits in the front?

I assume the amp is a waste of space too?

You don't like bass?

note I said bass, not boom - there is a difference

I love bass, just don't like weight. I've found the sound quality and bass of my previous setup with focal splits K2s and Alpine 6x9 more than adequate. I also refuse to put an enclosed sub in the boot as I don't like losing the space. yeah it's a big boot, but's that's how I like it. I may try a free air sub if I can be convinced it makes a big difference to bass.

Replace the sub, the other speakers and get a decent amp to run them all. I have the JBL sub and speakers with a 5 channel DSL amp, MUCH BETTER!!!

Runs off the factory head unit (plus I have a dvd player in the Aux) and sounds very good for what it is. Lots of bass available if you want it after that.
