To change the diff bush, the whole IRS comes out as Goldie said. I've had mine done, twice. Second time, I got to have a look at the car on the hoist, and no way can you do it without removing everything.

$1000 from Ford eh? I'd be looking at other options, because if you dont change your driving etc, it'll happen again. Then again, I've actually been told that harder bushing can damage the diff housing, and that while urethan/nolathane (I know I got that wrong), could perform better, it could also flog out quicker.

Fark im glad mines getting replaced under warranty.. Do you guys think that having three diff changes has contributed to it going..

I waas fed some crap about having to drop it out on a sling or something and its difficult to get it back in straight???

I also need them helicoiled because the bolt wont tighten..

is this possible or do I need a whole new diff casing or back plate or whatever??

am I gettin the shaft gettin quoted 1k for the job??

If the centre bolt is stripped than new housing is needed helicoil will not hold this for long.

I still think 1000 big ones is a bit much.

It's not that hard to remove or put in just time consuming.

about 700 t0 800 should pull it up.that is with the housing.

is the bush supposed to be welded into the suspension support thing??

because mine is!!

No the bush shouldn't be welded in.If the bolt is turning then it has stripped the thread and the housing will need to be replaced.As for the time it takes,book time allowed is 3.4 hrs but after doing a few you can get it down to around 2 hrs in and out.Takes about half an hour to remove and replace the bush(providing it isn't welded in).You also require the alignment tools to refit the assy as if it isn't aligned properly it can affect the way your vehicle tracks.
