Cant the gauges be connected so they dim with the rest of the dash instead of creating a seperate dimmer? Also how did you create the dimmer?

You hook it up to the Illumination line which is easily accessable behind the "Fog Lights/Traction control" Button to the left of the steering column.

Otherwise, you could put a resister inline with the illumination power on the guages. They are LED's so they will look fairly uniform when dimmed

thanks mate, ill give it a go. :finger:

I ran my illumination from the spare illum conection on the ciggie lighter, just seems easier than tapping the tc/spotlight button. Its in the illum loom so it dims with the rest of the dash.

I just found that even though it dimmed with the dash, it was still a few levels too bright if you know what I mean??

so I used a simple variable resistor from dick smith that solved it.

I wasnt sure what resistor to use anyway, and now I can dial it up to show the ricers!! :spoton:

I went to Jaycar , got a variable pot 1K ohm (resistor), it done the trick nice, Im using the autometer C2 series, they were bright as a f*ck..

but now there a perfect brightness...

looks awesome

This may be a silly question guys....but do the electronic Autometer Guages work off the factory ford sender units or do you need to use the autometer sender units??

Iv been trying to search and find a thread that has a pic of the cig lighter section and which wires are for each connection (power etc) but I cant seem to find it. It was in relation on how to connect an electric oil pressure gauge. Can someone direct me to it if you come accross it please.

Thanx
