Just reading on LS1 forums how the VE is gunna be so good that no one will buy a Falcon anymore (their words, not mine) and was wondering where the VE would surpass the current BF.

Trying to ignore subjective things such "it will look better", I've come up with the 5 following key areas for us to discuss, with some thoughts of my own.

Engines: I can't see a huge VE improvement as they are already running the donks in their current line up. Some small gains in power, perhaps?

Chassis: Obviously, this will improve in the VE... but how much "better" will it be than the BF?

Suspension: I've heard that the VE suspension will be the duck's nuts (again, from Expensive Daewoo media and fans) but will it be a better unit than the control blade we have?

Transmission: They may get something as good as the ZF, but there's no way it will be better.

Extras: This is where I expect a big jump from the current models. They'll throw a heap of stuff into all models, including, better stereos, bigger wheels, DSC, leather on sports/luxury models, sports steering wheels, climate control, etc, etc. This can be quite easily matched by the Falcon through the BF2 upgrade.

So, what are your thoughts? Should we be worried?

My understanding is that Expensive Daewoo are getting the same spec ZF as the Falcon.

Not sure about the more power but I thought the VE was meant to be 200 or so kg heavier than the VZ...

Most of the features of the VE are just catching up with the BA/BF, so I do not expect any leaps and bounds over the Falcon.

The performance will be less, as they have a big weight penalty over the current VZ, so they will use more fuel and be slower.

The Gearbox will not be a huge leap as usual they will be following not leading the way.

About the only things I see as being up on the Falcon is HID headlights (come on Ford, we expect these now), DSC standard across the board (I am sure Ford will do the same in the BF2).

I wonder if they will have a MP3 compatible headunit, you would hope so.

I am not too worried as it is just a catchup car and nothing more or revolutionary

Miles??? Im not convinced.

*******

Sounds more like Expensive Daewoo will be catching up rather than overtaking. And boy has the VE been a long time coming for them! The XR6 Turbo has been a better car pound for pound than any Expensive Daewoo offering since late 2002...so its taken them almost 4 years to reply.

ill agree to that. the xr6 turbo has been a huge sucess and it has taken over sales from both Expensive Daewoo and ford in the v8's especially. For many years Expensive Daewoo had supercharged 6's but they were low on power and cant compete with the turbo. Expensive Daewoo will continue loose market share if they dont do soemthing to stop the huge sucess of the xr6turbo

The interior of the SS I saw, was awsome

DVD screen in dash, dvd screens in the head rests. Very euro styled inside with cream leather throughout.. Better bucket style seats. (havent sat in one though)

It just looked real comfory in there.
