May 31, 200620 yr #1 I have been toying with the idea of changing the throttle body for a perf part, also using a free flow panel filter with modded lower box to get more air in. I want to do this before I go for an EDIT. Just curious to know how much diff I should notice by changing the throttle body and filter, before I do the EDIT. Cost for the Throttle body, modded lower box and panel filter = $1200 NZDCustom EDIT/Dyno time been quoted = $2040 NZDHow do these prices stack up?Cheers ..............................muncher
May 31, 200620 yr #2 Save your hard earned, you will be wasting money on a throttlebody upgrade. People are pushing 330rwkw with stock intake plumbing so why bother?
May 31, 200620 yr #3 My car runs the stock intake plenum and runs 380rwkw's on good fuel. Which equals 10.6@129mph. I don't think there is much need to change the throttle body at any stage of the mods let alone the beginning.Geea.
May 31, 200620 yr #4 Stock throttle body is fine - my understanding it is that changing it will not add any power, and will make it much harder to get your tune right, as the tuner will need to completely re-map the throttle response...Cheers, Ben.
May 31, 200620 yr #5 I push well over 500rwkw with standard throttle body.Better to focus on other areas first, especially a bigger IC if not done already. An upgraded throttle body is far more beneficial on on na.Brian
May 31, 200620 yr #6 Added throttle body, cai and cats back exhaust. made a difference down low where it seemed to pull harder and also ntoiced that the traction light was coming on more often. Same result on the open road just seemed to pull harder but I never had it dynoed so not sure of exact gains but the butt meter definately noticed something different.
May 31, 200620 yr #7 I think you will find the throttle body is aimed more at N/A XR6 and XR8s isnt it?Who were you getting the work done by? Isaac Ford? Edited May 31, 200620 yr by cobrav8
May 31, 200620 yr #9 you don't do a 75mm TB for anything but a gain in response. Yes theres a power gain to be had for N/A but its only about 4 to 5 RWKW the response is greatly increased with these products.Over sized TB for the Turbo who knows not me.Im currently working on boring out a intake manifold to match the 75mm TB I have, the intake factory is 72mm so I have a 1.5mm step after my TB. Soon to be fixed.Let you know how I go.
