    Poor Tune?

I had problems with mine hitting the wall at about 3500 RPM it didn't misfire it just wouldn't pull felt like it hit the wall. After much head scratching and Dyno time we discovered it was a problem with the Version of the Software the Tuner was using to Setup The Capa. He had downloaded the latest version (as you do) and it appeared to have a bug necause he applied exactly the same tune using the older version and all was well. Everyone told me valve springs but two months and three track days later its still going well.
  3. Hmmm my Computers sitting on 12.4 Litres /100km hasn't been reset for about the last three months. Does about 350Km a week with 100km of that being around town. Has been edited with larger injectors and Dynoed at 262 RW K/W
  4. Think we identified this. When using the flash that was in the vehicle when I went to the tuner (probably a late 05 version) we have the issue but if we revert back to a flash that is 12 months old the problem is gone. Is it possible that Ford have put something into the newer code that knobbles cars when you try to up the boost?
  5. Tried Lower boost and problem was still there. The tuners reloaded the flash and I updated the computer with no change. The problem is now getting worst so that it does it every time I nail it. I can still get the speed out of the car as long as I accellerate slowly... it will pull right up to the cutout...engine only dies it I give it more than about 1/2 throttle in any gear. It's going on the Dyno again Monday and hoepfully will fault so we can nail down the issue
  6. John Bowe exhaust is from cats back. Thanks for the suggestions... keep then coming gives me more to throw at the tuner and my dealer
  7. I'll be taking it back tomorrow to the tuner. He aware of my problem and is currently reviewing that maps he's loaded but he has used these maps in the past without issue. As I said previously this guy is considered one of the best on this side of the ditch with a whole lot of happy customers to testify to his skills. Both him and my local dealer (whoes well aware that this car has been flash tuned) can't explain what is happening. Guess this is the issue when we're driving vehicles that are highly dependant on computers and various sensors.
  8. Not doubting you guys but........ I'm yet to be convinced it's valve springs. I would have expected some form or mechanical symptons such as vibration or misfire if this was the cause. Also as soon as a put my foot on the gas I can rev to the limit gear after gear (guess I'm trying to find something else so I can avoid the expense of spring replacement). Stuart
  9. Problem I have is it isn't consistent... doesn't matter wether the car is hot or cold. Happened arround town after a 10 minute drive then happened again 2 hours into a longer drive. Drove it around Pukekohe raceway at a trackday on the weekend without an issue. I would have though that fuel would give me a misfire rather than just cleanly dropping power... it's like you just turned the engine off.
  10. Been there done that... the Guy that tuned it has been doing these things for years and comes very highly recommended. I've got two tunes 8psi and 10psi and it does it on both. Ford Dealer and Tuner have been talking and they're both at a lose to explain it at this point in time
  11. Hope someone can help me. Go a 2005 BAII XR6 Turbo, 6 Speed Manual. John Bowe Kit, Larger Injectors and Flash Tune currently 262 RWKW Car as just started dying while at full throttle. Doesn't happen every time but when it does it's like hitting a wall with a complete loss of power. Generally happens arround 4,000 RPM. No visual systems I.e the enginer warning light doesn't light up. If I leave the throttle flat to the floor the car stays in its no power state. As soon as I lift off everything returns to normal and if I floor it again it generally revs to the limit. As an experiment last time this happened I left it floored and put in the clutch the engine fell back to 2000 RPM help there for 2 or 3 seconds then started to gradually climb until it hit 4500 and then took off and revved out as you would expect. Had it to the local Dealer and they're checked the computer and theres no error codes. Any bright ideas? Stuart
  12. Added throttle body, cai and cats back exhaust. made a difference down low where it seemed to pull harder and also ntoiced that the traction light was coming on more often. Same result on the open road just seemed to pull harder but I never had it dynoed so not sure of exact gains but the butt meter definately noticed something different.
  13. Point to note...I had mine changed and using the reverse light switch and then about 3 weeks later gearbox started leaking. Took it to my friendly Ford Dealer and he told me that it had been overfilled it and oil was coming out the breather. Apparantly factory specs say you fill to about 1/2 inch below reverse light switch. they dropped out about 1/2 litre. Certainly helped shift quality but a Toyota it ain't... I would be good to have a gearbox that didn't feel like a tractor. Stuart
  14. Yep agree it's not the cheapest...but It's about inline with equivalent kits in New Zealand. I could have bought it as inividual componets but even though some of it is advertising hype...it's good to know they guy stands behind it as a package and that's what I'm buying a package that is promised to work together. This is the same theory that you would apply to an APS Stage 1,2 or 3 kit you're not just buying components you also buying the R & D that went into match those components. In New Zealand we're somewhat at a disadvantage due to the smaller market..seems everything is dearer here. For example BF Falcon XR6 CAI AUD $60-80.00 NZD $180.00 Bootlid Mat AUD $40-60.00 NZD $180.00 Having said this I have purchased a short shifter from Mel Woods for my previous XR8 Sprint but for any bulky freight and exchange rates seem to kill it. I'm not chasing outright power (and as been noted theres far cheaper ways of getting it) I'm purchasing a bolt on kit that from my perspective has totally transformed the way the car handles along with an increase in power that is noticible this is while at least trying to keep my factory warrenty intact. At the end of the day each to our own...as I said I'm more than happy with the kit and I would recommend it. Stuart
  15. Well I went and did it..... The exhaust and induction noise sounds cool (along with the extra go) but I rate the lowering and suspension kit as the best bang for the buck. It's a totally different car to drive, its so responsive to steering corrections it's almost like a gocart. I wouldn't have believed this was possible the car feels so much tighter and postive. Perfromance wise it seems to spin up faster than it used and has noticably more punch down low. All in all a happy camper _________________ 05 Shockwave XR6 Turbo
