Hey guys

since ive had my car ive noticed that when putting it in2 reverse it takes a little time ie 3 sec or so to register and shift. When I do reverse b4 it shifts it gives a big jolt.  I gave it 2 my mechanic and he said its weird aswell. In drive its fine no dramas.

So I took it 2 ford 2day to see if theres anything wrong coz its still under warranty, and he said its normal  . Just wondering if it happens to any1 else.

cheers

steven

On my AU Fairmont I questioned this, and I was told that it can be changed, and the cars delivered for the police do not have this delay

Apparantly there is some kind of bleed (oil or air I'm not sure) which prevents engagement of reverse, and by increasing the size of the bleed orifice the change can be almost instant.

Hey, it's an auto right? Why should reverse be any different to the other gears? Just get used to it - autos are slow at selecting gears - fullstop! If you want to be able to engage a gear instantly you should have bought a manual.

Fair point.

There's no point getting upset about it, just learn to deal with it.
