May 12, 200620 yr #11 The hand held units I pick up on my detector.. Obviously there's no real chance of not getting caught by a laser if you are speeding..Tripods are a different kettle of fish, I go thru them and have no idea they even clocked me..
May 12, 200620 yr #12 Author So W.A are using the 20-20, it is a very good gun and a tough one to jam. We are lucky in NSW, they use the very old Kustom Laserpro 3's.It is interesting that they are using a tripod, in NSW the police rarely use a tripod or monopod, this makes the LIDAR very susceptible to sweeping errors and can easily be contested in court, but putting the LIDAR on a stand makes them very accurate.M6, was the officer only radioing the speed, or was he also noting the distance as well ?Also, in NSW you would be able to contest any speed infringment that was measured within 200m of a change of speed sign.If any people are interested in a good LIDAR jammer, put the words defender2 into google. Another proven jammer is the Blinder M-40, these devices DO work VERY well.←The officer recorded both the speed and distance on all the readings. As you said, it is a requirement, and he did both. The speed trap was setup 140m from the speed sign, and was taking readings with a minimum distance of 100m, totalling a minimum of 240m from the speed sign. I'm quite converse with LidAR and radar devices, and their countermeasures. I've been following the progress of the Drive Smart unit, but it hasn't come to fruition yet. It didn't show up for the GOL testing, which was very disappointing. The problem with 'shifting' the Marksman 20-20 is it throws up an E07 code (jam) which is a deliberate jam. Most of the LED based jammers cause this error to display on the 20-20.My money is on the Anti-Laser V8 with 2 diode receivers for the front and one for the rear providing good proction. These are powerful and compact transceivers and discrete, and only show an E04 error code. Edited May 12, 200620 yr by M6 XR6T

May 12, 200620 yr #14 Yeh like said he was only getting people doing 19 over which I guess is fair enough. I detest the cops that get you for 65 :S

Anyone know for sure????
May 12, 200620 yr #16 There is a slight possibility of getting some reflection into the detector, but in modt cases a RD will only alert you to being targeted, and sometimes you will not get any detection. This is because the footprint of the LIDAR beam is about 3ft wide at a 500m distance. The cops will always target your numberplate. Unless your RD's sensor is near the number plate, it may not get any signal.I recommend that ANYONE that gets done by a LIDAR make a note of if the operator was using a tripod or monopod and insist on the distance they got you at. A LIDAR on a tripod can zap you at 1000m. The wort is on the freeway overpasses, but luckly they have not started doing that in NSW....yet.
May 12, 200620 yr #17 but luckly they have not started doing that in NSW....yet.They have in Victoria... I went past them doing in it on the Ferntree Gully Rd overpass to the Monash (pointing at the inbound lanes) the other day...Isn't it cheating if they use 2 different sets of people to catch you? I think so...Jack
May 12, 200620 yr #18 I would like to have a 1,000,000,000 watt laser to blow up every LIDAR gun. Just wait to the new LIDAR cameras that shoot across the road come out. It is called a DBC system (Distance between cars). Not only does it book you for speeding, but you also can get done for tailgating. It is impossible to detect and jam. I just hope NSW do not see the need to update their equipment, as it is doing just fine as we can still detect it.
May 12, 200620 yr #19 Something else you NSW guys might know about: Couple of weeks ago I got a notice from RTA (fine) saying I had exceeded the speed limit on a section of the new M7, as measured by fixed photo radar. They gave the approx. location - but I have been passed that location several times since and cannot find the sucker; also there are none of the normal signs saying "Speed camera head, heavy fines apply, etc"; just a general sign at the start of the freeway saying "speed cameras used in NSW".Anyone know if the signs near the camera are mandatory in NSW?I've asked RTA for the actual coordinates of the camera (lat. / long.) so I can check out the location with my GPS> Normally you can see them real easily (a white box on a pole) - but not this one..
May 13, 200620 yr #20 Anyone know if the signs near the camera are mandatory in NSW?←Funny how they do that, they warn you three times before going through. If you get busted after that then you bloody well deserve it!
