servicing costs.do you want synthetic oil.$80-$200 for oil only.

Stress.where do you park when you want to pop into the supermarket?you will park in that spot that is miles away,garantee when you come out 5 min later there is 1 or 2 cars next to you.

driving in steep driveways will also be a pain in the rear.

How do you lot put up with this? I used to get 550 out of a tank and that's a good mix of city and highway driving. any less than 400 is of great concern IMO. I would be getting things checked like the flash version, o2 sensor, other stuff that controls mixture....... I now have an edit at still get over 500km to a tank.

Things to get checked:

PCM Version

EGO Sensor (o2 sensor)

Air filter (I use a BMC)

Type of fuel (Standard T will run FINE on 95ron like shell premium, I got best economy out of this)

Air leaks through intake pipework

Fuel gauge/sender... are you filling up or do you think you are filling up? (64L tank)

My car is stock apart from a second CAI - and I get around 500km per tank every time.

I drive around 90kms per day round trip from home to work on a highway/motorway with lots of traffic lights, and stop start traffic for around half of the journey some days.

My average speed for these trips is 50kmh.

I generally accelerate fairly hard where I can, and give the car plenty of revs often.

So... I would have a fairly normal usage of these cars I would say - and still manage 500km per tank - so I dont see why others are in the 300s unless they are in stop/start traffic all the time.

I would get around the 500km mark as well when I had a Turbo. I used my boost gauge a lot and found that if I sat just under 105kmh fuel economy was very good, above that and the needle started showing boost on the way up.

At the end of the day dont buy one if you are concerned about fuel consumption.

Yhea thanks for the input guys. I think it really is not a matter of to buy or not to buy one, because the fact is I want, and I will get. It’s more the concern with the inconsistent fuel mileage that people are seeing. I am just really concerned about problems with these cars like the fuel consumption that could go undiagnosed for many people. I mean it really is odd that some get acceptable fuel mileage (500kms out of one tank) and other are spending up big time just to get 350Kmh out of a tank.

That to me indicates common problems with some or most cars.

Of course Ford has no clue as usual!

also need to consider that some of the modded cars with custom tunes, bigger squirters etc will have their tunes running a little rich for added safety particularly higher in the rev range
