March 5, 200620 yr #1 Just received my flasher unit and programmed no#2 (8psi) into my ute and away it goes! It goes like its on steroids. Enjoyed this for a day then filled the tank with 98 juice, regapped the NGK's to .8mm fitted the Typhoon CAI, removed the centre muffler (just for the noise!) and programmed in no#3 (10psi). I live out of town in a 100klm zone which never gets undue attention from any authorities. So away I go in first and at 3,000rpm it all stops happening! No bangs pops or crunches, just nothing.Went through the other programs and #1 has a 3000rpm limit, #2 goes like stink and #3 also has a 3000rpm limit. Do I have the valet program X 2? Or something more sinister. What is in box no#2, 8psi or 10 psi or.....? If I get my custom tune in Sydney on wednesday can they fix it or is it "send the box back to CAPA with a please explain"?Thoughts please....
March 5, 200620 yr #2 Why dont they just issue the bloody things with warning's....Custom Tune is a must, generic aint worth the heartache.
March 5, 200620 yr #3 I too got my flasher back from CAPA on Friday with valet in slot 1, 8psi on slot 2, 10 psi on slot 3. Had to regap plugs for it to go properly on 8psi generic. I can confirm that 10psi absolutely HAMMERS with 2nd CAI, BMC filter etc. Starts & idles perfectly as well.Perhaps your upload from slot 3 didn't work correctly. Seems the only explanation. I would flash the factoy tune back in and then upload from slot 3.Believe me you'll know it when you got 10psi by the whistle up front.

March 6, 200620 yr #6 it sounds like you got 2 valet tunes. a simple mistake.send it back and they will send you what you paid for.not everyone wants or needs to fork out for a custom tune.allthough im sure this would be money well spent.dont forget to flash the factory tune back to your car before sending flash tuner back to capa.I run on generic tunes and its good, not perfect but good.bloody thing revs over 2200rpm on cold start up.really annooyying. I KNOW, CUSTOM TUNE, I KNOW I KNOW!!
March 8, 200620 yr #7 Why dont they just issue the bloody things with warning's....Custom Tune is a must, generic aint worth the heartache.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Is a custom tune that much better? Settle down and hear me out, I'm not an expert I'm just offering my 2 cents worth.I run the generic 8psi tune with no problem at all (except high revs at startup). No misses, no farts, economy good infact quite happy. Plugs are as Henry himself intended.Tried 10psi tune, generally runs ok except for when I try to poor too much on too quick. It misses and farts but I have been told that repping plugs to .89mm will fix this.I have spoken to a couple of others and been in a car running a customised 10psi tune, and to be frank "not impressed". I realise there are tuners and there are tuners.I actually have decided not to have mine tuned, I'll gap the plugs, install the 10psi map, run against a custom tune car, have it checked on a dyno to see if AFR's are OK and if so spend my money elsewhere.Remember when read this, these are my thoughts and that I realise if you have multiple mods a custom tune is the way to go. But IMO with a car that is stock everywhere else except for the CAPA flash I don't think there are big gains to be had with a custom tune!Your comments will be appreciated!

March 9, 200620 yr #10 Author If I get my custom tune in Sydney on wednesday can they fix it or is it "send the box back to CAPA with a please explain"?Thoughts please....<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well, did you get it custom tuned ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well boys and girls sit back while Uncle Richard tells you a tale of woe.I went to Sydney for business and to a CAPA tuner (who shall remain nameless at this point), a 500klm drive but expecting so much-you know 245rwkw etc.I gapped the NGK plugs to .8mm (CAPA recommended) filled the car with Vortex 98 and dropped the car off and explain to the tuner the incorrect program in slot #3 (3000 rev limit) and leave to do my thing in town. 1 hour later my mobile rings-tuner says we have a problem. I return to tuners workshop to be told that my car wont make more than 1.75psi boost on standard program or 8psi generic (slot 2).I am shown a printout from a dyno run that shows from 2200rpm .8psi up to 1.75psi at 5400rpm maximum of 172.6rwkw@500rpm ( my lawnmower can probably do better). Next run with 8psi program starts off the same way.Tuner says no point in continuing. Suggests maybe wastegate actuator or something else(?). I leave after paying $100 for his time(?). He says he will look after me when boost problem is fixed. Suggests Ford Dealer should fix it.I drive home(500klms), still not happy! Spoke to local Ford dealer this morning and told him of my lack of boost (ie:poor performance). Says he doesn't have equipment to test but can flash with new program. I think I know more about xr6t's than he does (not very much). I have ordered my own boost guage today and will start playing around tonight. I am open to all suggestions as I am new to this vehicle.HELP
