That is a load of bull because the speed limiter would cut in way before the 5800rpm rev limiter in fifth.

I've gone over 5000rpm so many times just today and every other day it's not funny. Infact I don't change into second till 5800rpm, and depending on the speed limit, into third at 5800rpm.

I've also had a clutch slave cylinder replaced without any warranty problems what so ever....

Same, I bounce it off the hard rev limiter at least 100 times a week.

Yeh if your dealer starts saying sh*t like that it's time to find another one... I did this and saved myself about 300 bucks just on a service!

Since when can the Ford PCM log every RPM cycle?

WTF is the rev limiter for?

Once you drive out the yard and around the corner they know nothing about your driving habits.

What they can do is do a failure analysis on the damage to the vehicles components and after analyzing the failure come to an educated assumption that the vehicle has been abused and as such warranty may possibly be Void!

This in itself can be fragile unless it’s backed up with proof of which you are entitled to view, if they say you pay!!!

Let’s face it the dealer leads a simple existence and relies on the sloppy vehicle owners to hang themselves, by this I mean.

When the vehicle is inspected regarding the warranty they do the “High-tech sh!t” (joke) like look for Herrods, APS, Nizpro stickers……Exhaust mods, Unichip, Exede, Switches hanging off the consul leading to NOS…Rubber peeling off the underside of the back mudguards, Rear tires shredded, you know the stuff?

99% of the time people hang themselves with sloppy housekeeping and only have themselves to blame as there is no magical logger hidden inside the dash recording all your driving bad habits.. But beware this is not far away and in the not so distant future all parameters will be logged and downloaded at the time of the service or component failure and all your dirty laundry will be revealed.

But for now get real and tell them to Fix the damn car and get on with it!!!!

In that case I have voided my warrenty about 400 times in the last 12 months! LOL!

Used to hit that damn thing in 1st gear every time I tried to take of into traffic, always lost traction and bang! Intstance headbut. Bit different now I raised it to 6250rpm but the warrenty is still void but for a different reason.

Come to think of it, I havn't hit the new limit once yet!

I wouldnt talk too soon. Whilst I agree with most of your comments, I have heard from several different sources that there is indeed a counter for each separate instance of >5000rpm in the ECU.

Its not THAT much of a stretch to imagine its there. Its easy to measure, and just increments a value in memory that is say 3 digits long. Next time Its serviced, it could be logged and then reset to zero.
