Centre Muffler Removal

Hi everyone ,

Looking to get the centre muffler removed on my BF T ute tommorrow.

Does this affect the tune on a standard car, would it need a custom tune.

Also one of the reason im doing this is to get some more ground clearance, do you get much by remove the centre muffler.

It has SL springs in it

I got this done today. I love it.

Makes the car actually sound like it has some power.

I got this done on Friday. Makes a hell of a difference to the sound of the car. It certainly sounds tougher and louder, and I have not picked up much (if any) drone - yet to hit the freeway. Overrun/downshift has a fair amount of crackle and burble - I am not sure if I like too much of it though.

All in all, not bad for a $150 mod until I get a full exhaust!

hmmm tempting to get this done wonder if removing the center muffler nd replacing standard rear would make any more sound diference

Had mine deleted today. The previous owner of the car replaced both the front and centre mufflers about 2 months before I bought it, each one costing him $450 so $900 all up. He changed the tip at the same time.

Blitz Exhaust in Hoppers X'ing cut out my centre muffler for $75 and bugger me does it sound good! No droning and a nice, deep bass note when you accelerate. Getting some gurgling on downshifting as well which I love. Not sure what it sounds like on a stock rear muffler and tip but sure sounds nice on mine! =]

Just picked up my ute today and I'm looking to have this done in the near future. I did have a browse through the whole thread, but that was some time ago so I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction of a place in Perth that will do this.

ok so had this done today on my ute and am happy with the result not loud or anything just a nice bass note on idal nd abit of a girgle when backing off cost me 110

I would love to hear a before and after of an FG with the std system and with the centre muffler removed, is this possible?

I must say....

That is the best $95.00 I have spent @ The Muffler Centre, Fairy Meadow NSW.

In reading other posts, I thought I would cover the others with these observations and thoughts:

1st thing you notice when you start it is a dramatic increase in DB. Isn't stupidly loud, and doesn't sound like a crapadoor with a chev badge (gee I hate that).

2nd thing, is that when you are idle, there is minimal difference, but still noticeable, between muffler and pipes sound, which in my opinion is a good thing.

3rd thing, there is a slight bit of power. I can only imagine maybe 5 to 10 KW's, but I reckon there is a bit more (unconfirmed)

4th things, when you smash it from 1st, the 500 to 3k rpm has an increased loudness inside the car and the gear change is more audible now so someone outside the car would be able to tell if you are in D or in manual sports shift mode from the slight drone in the gear change when in D.

5th thing, and I think this is the best, is when you are slowing down at a medium/slow rate, the note and the pop's / burble are amazing for price spent, nice and clear and sounds tuff and not drony.

6th thing, this mod doesn't make the car sound like a drone!!!! sounds awesome!!!!!

7th thing, the price, I spent 150 on a new intake box which didn't do hardly anything from a sound or performance perspective me thinks, but this is def worth it.

8th thing, just took out a bit of weight aswell

These are my initial reactions..... but.... time will tell I guess.

I give this mod rating a 4 out of 10 purely on price + head turns.
