Cracking 400 Rwkw With Edit

Feedback from Simon is that as the piggybacks change ignition timing they also inadvertantly change cam timing

Can you explain exactly how this happens?

Obviously when the signal is bent using the piggyback, the PCM doesnt just change the timing.... part of the internal algorithm commands the cam timing be changed also.

Well done Robin nice achievement :tease:

Some pretty nice work there, jus 2 questions:

Was that with the stock rev limit?

If so, are there any plans for now to increase that?

Hi Ross,

Do you know for a fact that this is what the unichip and associated piggybacks do?

Hi Ross,

It'd be an interesting point to find out, however, it's not the piggyback that does it. It just bends the signals.....

Yes, quite. Im finding this out now, and even then does it make for a difference in real world performance?

Looking at the dyno chart, ~ 400 kW was held to over 6000 rpm.

I guess that's one other feature of the Edit, to overcome the rev limit of the Ford ECU.

More rpm will give an increase in power output at same torque levels.

Hence it is possible to get more power at a lower boost than another vehicle limited to 5250 rpm at a higher boost pressure.

Think about it.

cheers

Just a side note....

Did I say 400 rwkw was held from about 4500 to 6000 rpm?

That's a real high performance vehicle in anyone's language.

Hi All,

After the "Conrod Incident", I opted for a Nizpro Cobra Stage III which provided me with upgrade engine internals. At the same time I switched from a TSI/RDP Pro interceptor to Nizedit (same as Capa edit, etc). Simon did what he does so well and here's the result for the initial tuning run. Tomorrow he'll press-on a little further to see where we end up. BTW this is achieved with the standard turbocharger running 18 psi (mid range) and 15 psi (top RPM).

A nice result.....

Cheers

Robin.

Very NICE!! You gotta be happy with that Robin! So what's it like to drive now with the power gain and EDIT? Noticable on the road much?? Great work Nizpro..

Mate, re the photos of my wheels/caliper clearance I promised you, sorry but my digital camera got dropped the day after we spoke. I dont have a camera at the moment. What did you decide for your new wheels? I'm postive the wide pack 19 inch Kaotik's would fit your brake set...and look freckin horny.

Congrats Robin

Not everyone will be happy for you, but most of us are....

The smile on you face would be worth every cent...........
