I was preparing to purchase a T56 for my T3 but it doesn't sound like there is going to be any improvement guaranteed. The XR8 I tested had a really good box, but had only a handful of km on it ... so now that reports are coming in from cars with several thousand kms having gear rollover noise and bearing noise I'm getting put off the idea bigtime.

Haven't had a chance to drive any other 6 speeds yet, hopefully a few of the guys at work get their deliveries soon and we can do a bit of a comparison.

I suppose that's just normal the service manager said to monitor the nosie if it gets louder go back he also said its a very big box and you should get a little bit of noise .any who thanks to all, a bit hard being the only one in tassie with a 6 speed ,I guess that what the fourm is for

Service Managers PFFT!!! My 13 tonne Hino has a pretty heavy 6 speed box but I can't hear any gear rollover or bearing noises from it ... Come to think of it, it doesn't have any driveline clunk or diff whine either ...:w00t2:

But it'll void your warranty just as quick. Ford run dexron 3 for a reason. Put up with it, its anoying yes, but it does it for a reason. And no it cant hurt anything. Must still have an organic clutch plate in it...Throw a ceramic plate in it and you'll need ear muffs.. Hino gearbox quirkBump the idle 50rpm and it goes away..

I now have around 2000km's on the clock. Mine has the 'bearing growl' at below 2000 rpm in any gear....although most notoceable in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. It also has a noise, sounds like a 'tick, tick' when in neutral with the clutch out. It dissapears when the clutch is pressed.Mine also has a problem (although maybe can put up with it if it doesn't get worse) with the cahnge into 2nd being a bit difficult....otherwise the gearbox is not bad!??Other guys in the Typhoon section of this forum are experiencing the same issues too. If you read through it there are a few guys reporting this noise etc to their dealers. One of them (MYF6 I think) has recently had his 3000km service and they told him they knew about the noise but weren't sure if there was a fix (or if it was a problem?)I agree with an earlier post.... the growl at low revs does sound like the front gearbox bearing. Not sure if it will turn out to be a problem.PLEASE post what you and the dealer decide to do ... or not to do?...Good Luck!
