Guest dabratman Guests Posted 29/12/04 10:00 PM Posted 29/12/04 10:00 PM hi from little nz. had reflash last week. felt worse , although had had no overboost issues. felt like it was running real lean. do they in fact disconnect the boost solenoid? they say it should be up on power. this car has big throttle body, cat back system etc and is slower than my mates stock one! hmmmmm. also put on turbosmart supersonic blow off valve, sounds mean but ford say u cant use them cause they upset the boost sensor. anyone know anything that may help?

But I thought it should have gone better, down low any way. I was led to believe they "disconnect" the solenoid that varys the boost from 0? up to max. Therefore, there should be times when the ECU only wants partial boost, but the engine is now getting full boost, and it should go better. that's how it was explained to me by the all knowledgable Ford guy anyway.Bottom line is, it used more fuel and I had to work like a Trojan just to keep pace with a normal Falcon/Dunnydore.My T wears 245/40r18 Yokahama AVS Sport. No chance of ripping these of the tarmac with this state of engine tune!!
Guest dabratman Guests Posted 30/12/04 01:49 AM Posted 30/12/04 01:49 AM can they therefore be 'unflashed' . I never had over boost issues anyways. only otehr option is piggy back phase II to sort the issues. why should we have to pay again to get the power we paid for in the first place.

As I understand it the car runs a base boost of about 5 psi. The ecu is able to increase this a couple of psi in the mid range. By disconnecting this control you only have the base 5psi max all the time. I belive they said they clamped a vacum hose. Could be wrong, and often are

I just want to check it myself to make sure they're not bulldusting but don't know how to do it. Do I need to get under the car and look for a clamp or disconnected plug? All I can say is they made my T burn 2L/100km more after the 3K service. Anyone know a good Ford dealer (eastern suburbs) that will flash my T with the new program without booking in. I understand the "if it ain't broken don't fix it" mentality, but I see it as a software upgrade such as a Windows XP service pack. If it makes my T smoother and go better, I'm sold.

I think the old addage, if it ain't broke... don't fix it applies here..

Guest PSIXR6 Guests Posted 30/12/04 09:16 AM Posted 30/12/04 09:16 AM Hi All, I just had my T in for its 3000k inspection. When I booked it in, they told me it was on recall for a PMC change. I assume this was to flash the PMC with I new map. On the report sheet, It said it was PMC code PRGC 309. Is this the flash for the overboost problem, people talk about. I dont think my car has had overboost, but only thing I can coment on is that sometimes when I nailed the trottle, the car whould cut out around the 5000 to 5500. I it felt similar to hitting the Limiter Or was it Overboosting??? Well anyways I would like to report that the car now has a nice smooth idol, compared to before the service, the car would actually rock cause idle was so rough. ~allen
