December 21, 200421 yr #201 When you go from 185kw to 242 or something, isn't that roughly 60kw? And you plug it in, flash it up, 3 minutes later you're driving, isn't that also true for the edit?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Lawsy it's a little premature to say there is a 60 RWkW gain from the reflash only, this has not been verified by any independent operation as yet. IF there figures are anything like what they quoted for the GT (stock GT read something like 260 RWkW', when in reality the true figure for a GT is approx 230 RWkW's) then I for one would like to see some independent verifcation before believing the figures mentioned in your post. Peter
December 21, 200421 yr #202 Hello, See the signature, take away the SCT tuner and that's what I had first thing this morning. After receiving it from the courier I then read the instructions. Next was to load it into the car's PCM, 10mins later, presto!<{POST_SNAPBACK}>surely with all the other kit you had previously a proper tune from a pro would be in order.... or do they send you a tune that has taken these modifications into account?

You sound a little concerned on this.. what would your gut feeling be with just 'chucking an edit on' ?Cheers,Miyagi

You sound a little concerned on this.. what would your gut feeling be with just 'chucking an edit on' ?Cheers,Miyagi<{POST_SNAPBACK}>miyagi no concerns as to damage with this preasure just eficiancy etc.things like heat from xtra preasure on the small cooler reaching knockretard sooner and things like making power throughboost and not burning efficiancy.these are just different methods and nothing wrong with them if that's what you want!everybody saw that mackas was not tuned right yet tonite so that could be varified but it still drove sydney to castlemain 1 tankfull that can also be acheived with edit by using different methods
December 21, 200421 yr #206 I was there as well, I think the results speak for themselves, the edit is going to be a good bang for your buck especially if you own a turbo. I was a little dissapointed in the V8 power gains for the moment, there was 3 or 4 XR8's that went on the dyno. Not much time to play with fine tuning. The results will come with time and R&D To Street Tuners credit every change he made showed improvement and was very willing to answer any questions. I had a thousand that I wanted to ask him, to many people there to be able to have a 1 on 1 chat. This is will no doubt be a good cheap alternative simple mod and from what I've seen tonight produces results. If you only want to improve your cars performance with no other mods, this is the way to go. macka
December 21, 200421 yr #207 First run, the driver is not an experienced drag racer, who owns the car for other purposes and doesn't want to thrash there car, running a 13.8. What time did the very first unichiped falcon run? Apples with apples.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Lawsy, just to let you know. The driver was Cameron. He has been going to Calder as long as I have and has probably had as many if not more runs in that period of time. Whether this means he is experienced or not I don't know. I feel that I have some experience and believe he would probably feel the same way.The first time I had the Xede in my car was my 2nd time at the drags and with 233rwkw's I managed a 13.3.Geea.

This strip bullsh*t comes down to the driver and conditions as much as anything else. Obviously you have driven a GT-P with 233 rwkws to a time of 13.3 so on that basis it shows what is possible with a car of that weight with a certain driver condition combo. That’s all these experiments ever mean. It is certainly in no way a guarantee that if I did the same thing I could expect the same result.I also assume there are Gt s out there that have done better then the 13.89. Did they run on this night? Was Cams time on the night bettered by another GT? If so where these cars tested on the same dyno same day so as we know for a fact what each engine tune was really doing. Lawsy has a point about apples. Perhaps Steve has muddled with our brains sufficiently about constantly changing the guide lines of comparisons. If you drove Cams car and he drove yours under the same conditions or if he returned the car to factory pcm setting, then and only then would I say such comments might have some grounding and relevance. I have seen some people even try to claim times on different tracks in totally different states as arguments.Perhaps APS provided Cam with their similar tuned car on the night for comparison purposes, that someone forgot to mention or is the voice of reason lost in hysteria? If we are going to go that way then I will dig some times up for a VHT saturated-rubber induced Tarmak International Drag way night that will blow these supposed concrete theories out of the water. Tasmanian nights are good for speed and horsepower. If I were to use that particular night none of your cars have the HP being claimed which is complete rubbish. A comparison of a car for judgment purposes has to have an element of control. In this case, in this situation there is no control being offered that I can see! Not even the worse car review would try to pull a PR stunt based on this effort. Some people seem to believe that what happens on the track is the only thing of importance. If that were true we would all have jumped on the HSV band wagon 5 years ago. As a prospective customer I know which body group impresses me the most. Baiting and digging is doing you no favors in getting my money. The way questions are being handled and answered is the way I assume I will be treated. You’re representing your respective business. With that have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Much of the power increase from the XR6T turbo comes from additional boost pressure, unfortunatly the same can't be said for the XR8 and GT.A 15 to 20 RWkW gain from the N/A GT Boss engine should be considered a good power gain from engine tuning. You’re representing your respective business. With that have a Merry Christmas everyone!<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hey, how bout you loose the fcuken attitude. I'm not selling anything and not promoting anything. I'm sharing facts. The car I drove that achieved 13.3 was my old T not a GTP. I was sharing information that I had experienced first hand. I have had many nights at the drags with Cameron and was sharing those experiences. I have seen camerons car run with Cameron driving it on many occasions. We have run many times on the same nights. Camerons car has a best time of 13.7 I believe, or there abouts. I was there the night he achieved this. His car has achieved times between 13.8-low 14's since I've known him. On Friday his car again ran a 13.8. My car has run as low as 11.9 and on Friday I ran a 12.1 this wasn't a good run for me. All I was saying, is that it appeared that after the edit had been done and tuned by Rob (Herrod) and Tuna themselves, that it was no quicker than it had been in the past. I was only sharing this information and observations with other forum members that may have been interested. I dont have an APS car and have never had work doen by APS. I run the Xede and my tuner, HPF, is looking at possibly putting the CAPA edit in my car early next year.If you have a problem with me or my posts tell me and sort it out rather than having a go at me on here. My number is 0417892479.Geea. :o
