increased fuel usage and turbo flutter

My T went in for its 15k service. Since then my 16.4L / 100k has jumped to 17.4L. WTF. And to top it off there is a lot of turbo flutter - which was barely noticeable before the service. Take my foot of the go pedal as I accelerate and the flutter is really loud - even with the windows wound up.

During the service they cleaned the throttle body. Could this be the cause of the hike in fuel use?

Not having driven a Turbo anything before I am not sure what I should be expecting but with all this blow back over the fins of the turbo I wouldn't have thought it to be healthy??

My wife and I bought a second hand T with 19,000km on it and over five tanks now I have calculated just under 14lt to the hundred. I thought this was piss poor for a stock T as my over 400kw ute gets 14.5lt per 100km.

Is your T stock or modified? And most of my driving is done in city conditions.

Scrootre, I would suggest something has not ben put back on or tightened properly, I.e a hose or clamp.

Do you have a boost guage? If so when you put the foot down are you over boosting? Sometimes with turbo cars if everything is not tight and air can escape it can make a substancial difference.

yeah check everything has been put back on properly, even pull the intake off (the big black bit) and put it back on again so you know it is all the way it should be.

I had my car dynoed a while back and the guy doing it asked me why I needed to take my intercooler pipes off because I hadnt put it back on properly, I said that wasnt me that was ford yesterday.

I drive in lighter Canberra traffic and get a smidge under 13L/100km. Ive got an auto. 14L/100km for a 1700kg XR6T in city driving sounds normal.

I do 50/50 town and highway driving, and my L/100 is usually on about 15.2 when it come time to fill up each week, has been since I bought it.

Since mine went in for its 15,000km service it has had the opposite effect. Went in doing mid 14s came out doing mid 13s. It also seems a lot more responsive on the turbo side.

Thanks for all the replies.

The car is going back to the dealer this morning. On top of what I'd said, the car has also become hard to start and there's a coolant leak - I can't see it but I can smell it. These and the fuel consumptions that you guys are posting... something's not bloody right. The car was fine before the 15k service.
