ALBURY-WODONGA JOINT CRUISE (VIC & NSW) 9/10 OCTOBER

PLEASE POST A REPLY IF YOU ARE COMING SO I CAN ADD YOU TO THE WHO'S GOING LIST WHICH IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS LENGTHY MESSAGE

SUNDAY 10 OCTOBER: IM ORGANISING A TALK/ TOUR THROUGH THE BORG WARNER FACTORY (they make diffs for the fords and apparently there has been a split in the company so the transmissions are made elsewhere)- name has changed to Dana Automotive, will keep you informed of whats happening.

UPDATE: I have rang Borg Warner and apparently their factory is in a total mess, due to the company split up, so therefore told me "No Sorry" :spoton:

Now trying for the other half that split the company that make the transmissions 'ION' See what happens :o

Meeting up on a Saturday at 9.30am in Melbourne at McDonalds on the left hand side on Hume Hwy, which I think is near the corner of Camp Road and Hume Hwy, to leave at 10am.

We then travel for 2 hours and stop for lunch 12pm at McDonalds?

We leave at 1pm and head to Ettamogah Pub which is 12km from Albury for a drink or two- maybe 3 and also for a photo shoot. We should arrive there about 2.30pm (guessing) and leave around 4pm.

NSW people to meet us VIC plp's at the Ettamogah Pub.

http://www.arta.com.au/nswmaps/albury.html - Click on this link for the Albury Maps.

Then we all proceed to Motel and freshin up for dinner, say 6pm? at the excellent club/bistro in the main street of Albury which is an All You Can Eat- Not sure of the name has been a long time since I have been there. Food is of high quality and very reasonably priced, roughly $20 head I think. There are pokies there for all those gamblers.

The best place to stay I have been told is: The Albury Quality Resort Siesta 4.5 stars. There is a Big Cactus and Mexican out the front, easy to find.

416-422 Wagga Road Hume Hwy, Lavington. Phone: (02) 6025 4555 Fax: (02) 6040 1664. See MAP 1, K6 from the link above.

Just outside of Albury and should be able to accommadate everyone. Has 2 Licensed restaurants - we could possibly eat here instead of the club.

Gymnasium, Heated indoor pool, Salt water outdoor pool, 3 Spas, Sauna, Mini golf

Tennis court, Squash court, Solarium, Chess set, Games room. Bring your togs!! You guys will probably not need togs as you will probably be drunk and just jump in with all your clothes on!! WOO HOO :o hahaha Joking :yay:

Prices Prices you ask: From $115 For Standard room (double bed & 1 single/ queen bed) Maxium 2/3 people.

I have copied and pasted their accomodation choices below.

Our accommodation is spacious, tastefully decorated, and functional. With Standard Rooms, Spa Suites, Deluxe Units and Family Units to choose from you're sure to find accommodation to suit your needs at the Siesta. Select from our modern or Art Deco Honeymoon Suites, both with corner Spa.

Some rooms feature picturesque elevated views of our landscaped swimming grounds. All our rooms offer quality and comfort with unrestricted access to all facilities.

All our rooms include:

Colour TV and VCR

Direct Dial telephones with ISD

Air conditioning

Hair dryer

Tea / Coffee making facilities

Under-cover parking

Ironing boards

Minibars

http://www.siesta.com.au/accommodation/ - Click on this link for Accomodation. There is a link on the bottom of the page to check availability and prices. So we will have to set a date pretty soon so we can all make reservations.

Sorry Guys,

They haven't been Borg Warner for at least 10 years.

I used to work for them. They were BTR Engineering before the Split.

Albury was the Transmission assemble plant for Autos and Manuals with most of the Manual Gears being cut at the Fairfield Plant (In Sydney), now owned by Ion.

The Fairfield plant was the Axle factory and is now owned by Dana. Did the walk-through of their new factory a couple of months ago..

Actually did some work their on the 4 Speed electronic Auto gearbox that was in the AU's.

Any more questions ?

Either can we I intend to drive Melbourne and met up with you somewhere on the North side. Any suggestions

macka

I'd think that the organisers will have meeting spots arranged soon. If not I'd suggest the Ford plant. Broadmeadows. :spoton:
