Fabric/Leather/Paint Protection

Ford dont do it...hehe....its the dealers who do it by either contracting an external business....or they have their own setup.

If the dealers apply it themselves - go there and get em to show u how they do it. Only way you'll know if u think its worth it...

TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY....... yes I'm shouting so I hope you listen

I got my car from city ford in Sydney and got the leather protection and paint protection.

Dude dont waste your money it is a total waste of time. all they use is a can of scotchguard for the fabric/leather and the paint protection is useless.

I have a black car and I know how to look after the paint work, spend the money on getting high quality car wash products, lambswool sponge, shamois and about 3-5 microfibre cloths for polishing and waxing.

Don't get Ford to do any of it . I got mine done by an after market mob for $650.00 and that included window tinting on top of the paint fabric and rust protection / undersealer . And if you think new cars come out with undersealer / sound proofing have a look under your car .

Just my two peneth worth

Well it's pretty much unanimous. I'm telling them to forget the whole thing but I'll ring around a few local places on Tuesday for paint protection quotes just for piece of mind. If I find some place that will do it for ~$200 (and do it properly, ie heat sealing instead of using wipe on stuff) I will probably get them to do it.

dsan - will your car be doing any dirt roads or hard road driving conditions eg highway etc - if not - dont bother.

It'd be better to just get good products and do it yourself cause u'll achieve the same result and save yourself hundreds of $$$.

Like you I ordered my T about a week ago and was told, you've just spent $50K on a car and for only $1600.00 you can protect your investment. HOW? Does it change the resale value? Does the book value of your car change cause it had PAINT protection, not at all. When you decide to trade it in or sell it NO ONE EVER pays a premium becuase you spent $1600.00 on a protection pack. So unless you have no idea how to look after the car you are wasting your money.

Besides that I asked the sales chick to break down the cost for me.......

Like I said total pack was $1600.00 which includes rust protection, Fords standard warranty covers corrosion for 5 years, so you don't need that.

So she broke the rest down............

Window Tint $495.00

Paint $ 400.00

Interior $ 400.00

So I say " DAMN does the tint have melted down gold in it, $ 500??"

Without hesitating she says ok I will do it for $300.00! So you can see the markup they have on this stuff. $200.00 off in 30 sec! I reckon if I had kept it going I could have got it for free! :nono:

If you change your mind after you get it, most places class it as a NEW car anyway as long as it is done in the first 12 months, so you still get the same warranty etc on it and you have a chance to shop around.

So is tinting supposed to be included in the full care pack? The @#$% woman told me it was an extra $495 on top of the $1600!! I plan to tell them to stick the full care pack but I was still planning to get the tinting (I got them down to $395 but it sounds like they certainly weren't doing me any special favours :()

I think I'll get them to jam the whole lot and I'll go aftermarket...

Yeah, my pack included the tint in the $1600.00.

I live in Brisbane, not sure what the going market rate where you live is, but I've spoken to loads od people here today and most places were under $280.00 for the tinit inc a lifetime warranty.

I also went to the place where the paint protection would have been done if I had agreed, some little shed along side of a railway line, with dirt driveways that has diesel fumes and dust pouring in all over the cars as they are being treated.

LOL!!! I think you need the protection pack before you go to this mob!

Walked in the back door and acted lost..............mmm, a bottle of meguires wet look polish, a meguires clay block, a rubbish bin full of old rags, which obviously sit in there collecting dust until they are used!

WHAT A CROCK!!! :pinch:

When I bought my car I too was asked to sit down with this lady (and I use that term very loosely) to talk about "how to look after your purchase...". We sat down and she started on this sales pitch and I stopped her in her tracks and said is this an upsell item and she said its protection for your car.

I said sorry but no thanks and get this...she said "well don't blame me if your car looks shabby in 5 years... :pinch::pinch::censored: . I HATE SALESPEOPLE!!! I had my last car (1999 Commodore) for 5 years and I said to her to go and take a look outside and tell me whether that car is shabby. Pristine condition with just 2 scratches (bloody kids bikes) so save yer money and put that towards a good quality 3 part wax and apply it every six months. Same goes for leather and interior.

Cheers and have a good day
