Pirelli Pzero Tyres
Yeah id agree, althouth I havnt had them first hand, there are many bad (or not too appealing) things said about this tyre. Try Michelin PS or PP2 Dunlop SP sports Maxx (just put these on the Phoon and they hold brilliantly, still a little noisy but nowhere as much as the SP9000s). And the reason I went these was I was told by a few dealers in SA that Michelin are withholding the release of the PP2s as they want to get rid of the PP1 stock first, so I basically couldnt get them at this very moment.. Just a pic of me new Maxxs. 245/40 18 . Paid 379 a piece. (Few quotes were up to 460 each! So I did well).

Auto Showoff Pictures
I think some people just have too much money. They should give some to me so I can spend it wisely for them... mmmm, the Phoon cant tow a 50' Riveria, even with an APS Phase IV Kit..

Tunes, Whats The Best?
Hey mate, Im in adelaide too. But my car is stock for the moment. Try Morepowa in modbury (Off memory) They are the best tuners in adelaide, and distribute all of the APS gear. If I were you though, I would prob go APS phase 2 with a custom tune/EDIT (Because the APS kits are still using the unichip, and plus you already have the flash box for storing other tunes). This incl SS exhaust, cat, inj, tune should see your car to around the 300 rwkw mark. Cost around prob 5K. How much power you looking for, or should I rephrase, how much you wanna spend on your machine..?

- Fpv F6 Typhoon 1:18
They have just also released a lightning strike tornado, but only 500 piecs so be quick! ATM only lightning strike is available in tornado and Phoon, but more will come, just not sure if they will still be Ba MK2, or whether they will produce BF??- Fpv F6 Typhoon 1:18
Yeah, I did ask if a silhouette one was on the list (via an email to classic), and they said that they were undecided on the next colour to be released. So I snapped this one up while they are still available, and if a mk2 one in silhouette one comes out ill prob grab that too. I just didnt want one in BF as mine is only mk2!- Fpv F6 Typhoon 1:18
Hi guys, I finally picked up my 1/18 F6 Typhoon by Classic Carlectables (Lightning Strike). Perfect model, and almost realistic! Paid $150.00 (2 and a half months ago! ). Its a limited edition of 500 and I have number 303. Cheers!- Any One Puts 40psi On Standard 17' Rims
At first I ran my 18s Dunlop Sp9000s at 34psi, they started wearing slightly on the outside, then I bumped it up to 40psi as recommended by my tyre dealer, and they wore badly on the inside, especially the rears. Now running 37-38psi. So far so good. But if you push your car fairly hard through corners, closer to 40 is supposed to be better, but my car gets alot of normal daily driving..- Lots Of "steam, White Type Smoke From Exhaust"
Hey Jimmy, I find that this is really common amongst fords when driving on the roads, with both the phoon and my old lady's EF Falcon. Must be just a ford thing till they warm up I guess..- Typhoon - Towing And Fleet Discount?
I have a relative who has had a SRT8 ordered (and a deposit paid) since the start of this year, and is still waiting delivery! Tyres for those 20s wont be cheap, and it chews through 98 like no tomorrow! Ha ha! Yeah, let us know how you go when you take each for a test drive! Would love to see a new thread on comparisons! Good luck again!- Typhoon - Towing And Fleet Discount?
Hey BA Phoon, that's exactly how mine looked before I complained. They then did this for me, looks a little better. At least you cant see the hack marks on mine anymore, but mine had a larger gap on the sides than what your has. Cheers!- Unifilter
that's how I would want mine done, more of a stock "stealth" type look! Leaving all original stuff intact..- Typhoon - Towing And Fleet Discount?
Yeah, that's the type my VY series 1 SS had, the removeable ones, still 1600 kg but a very well designed and good looking piece. The ford one is pretty average, (esp for a 60K vehicle). Okay, from the SS. I also had a 6spd manual so not sure of yours. But the torque builds in a v8. whereas the F6 has all of its 550NM from 2000rpm, so it doesnt build as the car revs, so when overtaking for the first time, youll really notice the difference, and it is quite different, but definately no worse off by a long shot. The turbo is always showing boost also when towing, the Gen3 didnt seem to require the extra oomph of anything to do its task, but once the turb spools up, no need to worry (just the prem- or high oct fuelyour chewing through). I also travel to my holiday home about 2 and a bit hours away from where I live on h/way 110+km.hr speed so im not one of these people that just drive to a boat ramp and back and say my car can tow well. It really does, and this was also a concern for me when purchasing but no need to worry. I would be more concerned about the hight of the front bar as even though mines stock height, it is alot lower than the SS. Just means extra slow and sideways driveway/spoon drain stuff, a pain in traffic but the car is so great, youll learn to live with it! The Typhoon is really a great car mate, you will not be dissappointed at all, and trust me, heaps quicker, in all areas than the SS. (Both of mine are dead stock). At first they seem a little light in the steering compared to the Expensive Daewoo stuff, but once your used to it, and begin to handle through corners, it feels so much better. I think the SS felt better at low speed corners, but definately the Phoon is the go in the higher speed stuff. Brakes are mean as when compared to the SS (And if you go BF youll get fromt 4p Brembos!). One thing with the Typhoon compared to SS, is that the Turb loves the cold, on a 35+ degree day, I think the SS feels faster! But dont really know. Put it this way on a normal day, put the SS in 1st and floor it. It just goes (if the clutch isnt dropped), the Typhoon from about 2800rpm starts pulling sideways, and smashes the stupid 6000rpm rev limiter so damn hard! And when you shift quick into second, it doesnt just chirp like the SS, the tyres squeal for a few seconds! You'll love it trust me! Interior wise, the Phoon is so much better in every way, and my main reason for going FPV. Im fairly short 168cm so the clutch was a real pain in the SS, but I am so comfortable in the F6, and everything is easy to use. And a cruise control that doesnt drop 4-5km when pushed (Like the SS does)! Its the little things that count! Anything else you want mate, just let me know! If I were you, I would also take a new 6.0L clubsport for a drive. Only thing is, like the SS, you will have bad resale value as the VE will be released soon, and that bad Expensive Daewoo interior. But good drive train (if you go manual). If you go Typhoon, iv been told that the 6spd auto is the way to go, I just like manual that's all. Also, in a few months time, the next series of the BF models will be released so it may pay to wait for then for some run-out sales to happen. I actually saved 11K of retail price for my F6, but it had 1800km on the clock when I bought it (Driven only by 1 exec apparently... apparently). Im also using the F6 as a business vehicle so we are in a similar 'boat'. Here is a pic of the towpack I had on the SS, way better than the normal 1600kg ford one anyway! Good luck with your choice!- Typhoon - Towing And Fleet Discount?
Hey, I have a mk2 Phoon and a 2005 4.7M Haines and have no problems when towing. It does like to drink well though. Completely different to a v8 (I had a VY SS prior to the T) as the Turb is always spooled. But no probs at all as far as the car goes. Just some words of advise, if you are going to get your towpack done by ford, get a heavy duty one despite the cars max towing capabilities at 1600kg, reasons being as mine looks crap, doesnt come out far enough from the rear bar (Yes I have hit it with the boat trailer just doing a U-Turn at boat ramp), and make sure they do a good job of cutting out your rear bar (They aint cheap!) as they also did a sh*te job of mine, then bacuase I complained put a dodgy plastic thing around it... There is a thread of me b**chin somewhere on this forum, might pay to do a search.. Cheers!- Fpv Drive Day And New Tyres!
Hey guys, Had my FPV day the other day at Mallala Raceway SA. What can I say, I loved every part of the day! Learnt heaps, and all legally! There was only one other Phoon (BF), and one Tornado, the rest (only 12 cars in total) were GT or GT-P. Just have some pics, mine is the black mk11 Phoon. The Phoon went really well, no probs at all, and once the Dunlops warmed up gripped like hell! I would just like to say that this is one area that FPV have over their competitors, and has now made me realise the full potential of my vehicle (even if the instructors were showing me!). So well done FPV! Also today, and after alot of searching, I have just put on 2 new Dunlop SP Sports Maxx Tyres 245/40ZR18. For some reason the rears were worn after the track day.. mmm . I havnt really had much of a chance to drive them hard, but they are quieter than the 9000s and seem to grip beautifully when cornering. Cant compare overall grip as they are on the front, but once the next set comes, will keep yous updated. Or PM me if interested in a few weeks! Here are some more pics! Cheers guys!- Gear Knob
Looks nice! Off topic, but that box of tissues that's under the ICC, did you get that from your dealer? I dont have one in mine, and dont wanna put in flowers or some other crap. Cheers!- Phoon Mags
Guys, Tyres alone in 19inch are prob around the 550 doller mark (My 18inch SP9000s were quoted at 480 each 245/40) So there is over 2K of tyres alone on them wheels, plus the cost of the wheels, upwards of 500+dollers each I would imagine (If you can get even the originals in the first place). So yeah, BARGAIN! Did you also get the spare by the way? I know the tyres on these wheels shown are SP 9000s, I was just asking if they (The new Phoon 19s) came with Sports Maxxs as I heard something a while ago on these forums that's all!- Phoon Mags
Yeah really nice mate! I love! (Except the cost for 19s tyres! ) I think its now time to invest in some lock nuts too, there are many jealous ppl out there! Can anyone clear something up for me, are FPV running Sports Maxx tyres as standard OE for the 19s? I just orderd some for my 18s that's all.. Cheers!- FG XR6 Delivery Dates (2008)
Well I saw mine before I bought it! But I had to wait 2 weeks for finance to be finalised , at least that gave them time to fit the towpack!- Using Oil
- Ford Service Or Fraud Service
Did they charge you for the 50 or so minutes it takes to tighten the bolts up. Im due for my 15K service in the next wk or so, so I am very interested..- Using Oil
Hey guys, I changed the oil at around 7000km on the Phoon, (Mk2), to mobil semi syn, and am now ready for the ford service at 15K and have noticed that its down to around half way to the add line.. Not sure if it used much prior to the 7K change..- Cold Air Intake
Im not pushing the Herrod stuff at all, but have you been to their site and had a look.. There are a myriad of things that claim to improve performance for your Boss, but would want before and after dyno figures as proof if I was gonna spend upwards on throttle body, snorkel, BMC, spacers etc etc. http://www.herrodmotorsport.com.au/index.asp?id=191 http://www.herrodmotorsport.com.au/home.asp?p=products_all- Extra $$ For Phoon......
Depends how fast you want to go, and how fast you wanna stop.. 400rear wheel HP (approx 300rwkw) should be achievable w/ only injectors, exhaust incl cat, fuel pump, & tune. Prob about 4-5 grand, depends where you go. But if you want more power than this, then obviously alot more bigger IC anyway, internals etc, and the stock anchors on the mk2 phoons although great, are NOT that brilliant compared to after markets anyway so you are talking another that much again on some mean anchors. So like I said, I think if your gonna go crazy, then either will do, if just mild then Phoon IMO. If money is easy the Phoon without a doubt, or TT a GT Cheers! - Fpv F6 Typhoon 1:18
