Mate, it doesn't look like it ever ends!! that's a good time you ran with the mods. What level of boost were you running and what stall? What kind of power did you have? If Jim can start reproducing those kind of times/tunes on more T's, I reckon he could start getting a lot of business in Sydney:spoton: His prices are pretty competitive as well. I am need of the FPV gauge holder for my car. I need a VIN/ or a way to get one from a dealer. Any help would be much appreciated. Maybe it would be easy for me to possibly meet someone during their lunch hour and pop into a dealer and pick up the housing. I will make sure it is worth your time.

I am having a ball! I was also expecting a better MPH for 273rwkw I am finding the car harder to launch than I thought. It seems like stalling it to 2100 isn't enough and 2200 wheelspin? On another note, I am sick and tired of complaining to the various tuners here in Sydney that they just don't do good enough edit tuning and I am not going to waste my time and $ anymore. There was another guy there on the night with an APS phase 2 kit plus valve springs/actuator/PWR I/C only running 110mph. WTF. He was running a unichip but still had over 280rwkw. He should have a faster mph? Only one solution I can come up with now to be competitive..... BVW2 here I come! I will be giving HPF a call this week to schedule my car in for a few days. valve springs, actuator, fuel pump, 15 psi (maybe a trip to Kewish time permitting) and then I should see some competitive times down the 1/4 mile. I can't wait to bring the car back to Sydney and see what it will run.

My car does that as well. I have had mine retuned. I am thinking fuel pump is not keeping up as I still have the stock one. It also seems to happen more when I have less fuel in the tank. Going to talk to my tuner about it tomorrow and I will post what he has to say.

Where is the best place, and what is the best price for the original typhoon gauge housing? I have seen the post on here selling them for $360 but I thought that seems a bit high. What do the dealers sell them for?

Just thought I would bring it back on topic a little... I have been to the tuner today to arrange for them to have a look at it as they knew something had to be wrong. They put the car on the dyno and it pulled 242rwkw's. In a way that made me feel a little better about my effort Wed night. What happened was I had taken the car back after the original tune as the cold start was not correct. When the cold start was being adjusted, somehow the tunes were not labelled correctly and the result was a 242rwkw tune that ran a 13.2. The tuner retuned the car and I will be out again on Wed to back it up with some times. I would also just like to comment on the customer service I have recieved to fix the problem. I am not going to name the tuner but I have been happy with service and will be going back. The real test is going to be on the track and the comparison between their tune and the one I eventually get in Melbourne while down for the BVW2. I have attached the new dyno and would like to hear what your opinions are on the new tune. It is a bit down on power(273) from the original tune(279) they did but feels a little stronger down low. I still feel it is about 10-20rwkw off what most other people are getting with my level of mod's. I am expecting a mid to high 12.

Trans cooler done. I reflashed after the first run as I was afraid that maybe my economy tune was somehow still on after seeing the 13.4. It was definetely in the right program for the last three runs I posted.

I was going to go back and edit my post as I was sure someone would ask this! The answer is no, neither the traction control or A/C was on. I have a custom cat as part of the full exhaust system but have not replaced valve springs or actuator. I was planning on that (and saving) for my next mods.... valve springs, actuator, fuel pump and 300rwkw tuned in Melbourne while down for the BVW2. Just on another note, I had the car tuned to 270rwkw about 6 months ago when I did the initial edit, exhaust, injectors. This was done by a different tuner than the one that has most recently tuned the car. The dyno attached is the original tune. This kind of demonstrates that my car is putting out more than 270rwkw and should be getting better times/speed on the 1/4 mile just based on power and other peoples times and speeds. I then added the 2nd (typhoon) cold air intake and wog intercooler myself a few weeks ago and wanted the car tuned for these mods. That brings me to my current tune. An extra 9rwkw on top of my original tune by adding 2nd CAI & intercooler. What I am thinking at the moment is I have spent near $5k on modding the car in Sydney just to get a low 13, when all I really needed was a decent custom tune from a decent tuner to get me a 12 second car. Finally, I find this interesting. Chopper is running very similar mods to mine except for chip vs edit and he has done the fuel pump. (and removed the back seat!! just kidding chopper) On the same night on the same track he was running a 12.8 vs my 13.2. He also has 290 or so rwkw and I am only getting 279. WTF. I am soon going to decide the best advice for people is that if you live in Melbourne get your car edited, if you live in Sydney get it chipped.

here you go. What do you think? My tune was done here in Sydney by a reputable shop that seems to have quite a bit of experience tuning T's. I have spoken with them today about the results of the tune. They want me to drop the car off for a day so they can see what is up. That is all good, I am just afraid I know what the answer is going to be... just give us some more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and that will fix the problem. I don't want to expose who they are because they desearve a chance to fix the problem before they get a bad rap.

are you doing the shifting or the box in performance mode? how hot was it last night? It was pretty warm last night as it hit 30 degrees in Sydney yesterday. I let the auto do the shifting for me.

I just thought I would get some opinions on my first 1/4 mile runs in my T. FYI- I drive a 2004 MKI auto with Edit, 42lb injectors, APS exhaust, Wog intercooler, 2nd typhoon CAI with BMC filter,BOV. My current tune has been done by a shop here in Sydney and is currently pushing 279.1rwkw @12psi of boost. I removed the spare and ran the tire pressure at 20psi & 18psi for tonight. I stalled to around 2200 the first few runs, 2400 on the third run (a little wheelspin) and 2000 the last. I did a decent burnout before each run. I was thinking I should be easily into the 12's or at least a 110+ mph but ran the following times/mph. 1st run: 60' 2.209, ET 13.403 @ 107.20 2nd run: 60' 2.170, ET 13.218 @107.27 3rd run: 60' 2.134, ET 13.277 @107.26 4th run: 60' 2.128, ET [email protected] I will post my dyno and time slips tomorrow. My question to all is this, what will get me into the 12's? From looking at other peoples times with this kind of power I should be getting way better times/mph. cheers

Is it bad for your car to rev up to 2k for a few seconds when cold?

FYI- Problem was fixed by Ford under warranty. Problem was faulty "clock spring". It is the part that keeps the wires from getting tangled up when you turn the wheel.

According to the announcer they were all XR8's I was there from 6-8pm and there was a green & blue XR8, and a white, orange, and blue turbo. Which one got the 13.199? I would have thought there were more T's out there? I would have run but I haven't got a helmet yet. Anyone know where to get a cheap helmet? Do they have to be full face? Next week I will be there.
