Hmmm...this sounds exactly like my problem on the FG...All diff bushes replaced and still have that dreaded knocking sound which makes the car sound like an old Kingswood bomb...
-
Anyone actually know where to get the BREMBO red paint?...Or know the paint code?
-
Guys, I took my car into Ford complaining of two issues, Rear end passenger side knock, and severe axle tramp on hard take offs. Ford did the diff bushes, and it looks like that has settled the tramping some what. The thing is when I got the car back, I still had the rear end passenger side knock (unchanged), and now I had a new knock coming from the drivers side rear end. Took the car back and was told one of the bushes wasn't seated properly, and so the cradle had to be dropped again to get the bushes right. (I actually seen the car on the hoist with the cradle ripped out). I got the car back the other day and it still has the rear end knock coming from both sides...the passenger side rear knock was always there, and the drivers side rear knock started form the first time they changed the bushes. I'm not sure what the passenger side rear knock could be...but when im going over little bumps it knocks around, though applying the brakes tends to muffle it a bit...(could this be something to do with the wheel hub??) The drivers side knock, I initially thought it might have been a loose exhaust mount...but wouldn't Ford have seen this? I thought these types of issues would have been easy for Ford to diagnose esecially after all these years... Has anyone experienced the symptoms im talking about?

So would violent axle tramp be considered normal for an FG XR6T???
-
Guys, Have had violent axle tramp on hard take offs, to the point where I'm too scared to hammer it off the line, as the whole rear end just bangs violently. (usually the left rear end) Took the car into Ford and they changed all diff bushes and also changed the tailshaft, but it hasn't solved the problem. I'm sure I'm not the only one with an FG XR6T that has this problem...(well I hope I'm not)...has anyone been able to solve this great mystery of the universe? I would have thought Ford would have been all over this issue by now...

Guys, I took off the inlet manifold to clean the throttle body the other day, and I broke the plastic T piece which comes with the boost gauge and connects the vacum hose off the blow off valve. I can't seem to find another autometer T piece, do you guys know where I can get one?...or what size generic T piece I should get, and from where?

According to this there will be a limited edition FGX XR6T 310KW... http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2014/commercial/ford/falcon-ute/confirmed-ford-to-build-310kw-xr6-47831

Nice car...I have been following Pickles Auctions online, and prices for these cars are very strong at the moment, as there seems to be allot of demand for them. You can definitely tell the difference between the cars that have been abused to those that have been taken care of.(Usually the country cars) I would say about 30% of the ones I have seen are in good condition from a body/interior perspective... I have had my FG for just over two years now and have had no problem with it. I also still have my BF Mark II with around 230,000KMS on it and that's still going OK.

Seen my first FGX XR8 tonight on George St Sydney...I like it...looks good...

Guys, Noticed the other day that my drivers side brake light wasnt working on the FG, so I went to Ford and got a genuine Phillips globe. Take the old on out, looked at it, the little fillament had broken and the globe had the black markings typical of a blown globe. I replaced the globe with the Ford one, and even though the park lights turn on, the brake light part of the globe wont work. I went back to Ford and the guy gave me another globe, just incase the first one was a dud, and the replacment one does the same thing...(park light works but not brake light). The original globe in there was a GE brand... I looked at the socket and it looks ok to me...(just thinking maybe I should check the socket with a light tester) Any suggestions on what it could be?...should I try anther brand of globe?...the other brake lights are working fine...

I couldn't see the video but you have nothing to lose by taking PhilMeUps' advise, as the Forscan program will pick up the trouble codes at the very least, and if it is a steering angle sensor issue you will be able to recalibrate it in seconds. The elm 327 device is cheap, literally around the $8 mark, and the Forscan program is free. The Ford dealer I take my car to for warranty work quoted me 30minutes labour to reclibrate it, others dealers will tell you they need more time as they try and make it out like they do allot more than just reset the sensor...

Most Unusual Unmarked Cars & Dumb Mistakes.

I seen an unmarked Pajero with the strobe lights on racing through the Lane Cove Tunnel the other week. Also have a detective friend in the crime commission, he drives different cars all the time, the last car I seen him in was a Subaru Liberty plain white with tinted windows. -
Toxic this sounds like a steering angle sensor fault to me...(assuming you have the ZF) Definitley the foreskin program with elm device will be able to diagnose it and recalibrate your SAS. (the device will literally cost you under $20...the foreskin program is for free) I use it to recalibrate the BF II steering angle sensor every few moths...As the DSC light comes on and car starts making grinfding noises when turning at low speed...

Is it still under warranty? Even if it's a couple of months out, they might still honour your warranty... No harm in asking...unless they start blaming the braided lines etc... Though the braided lines would also have less "flex", is there chance the reservoir might have overfilled somehow?

Actually as much as I dislike the VF rear...the HSV rear end is not bad...especially considering what HSV had to work with...they did OK ,out of a bad situation...

You're definitley shorting on the horns. Take the front grill off, and make sure the flat pins that the wires plug over, are not touching either the body of the car, or the bracket that holds the twin horns. I would even go as far as wrapping masking tape over the connectors. (once youve plugged in the wires)

What type of times are the 335KW GTs' doing down the quarter, in stock standard trim, and is it much faster than your stock XR6T? I know on paper the 335KW should be considerably faster, but is it?

The only thing I can think of, is a loose earth wire somehwere, or a loose wire generally...possibly off the alternator, if there is nothing obvious off the battery...
