I imported my car from JP myself.. First thing to do - apply to DOTARS to see if it can be imported - and under what type of rule. Apply for importation (Here's the kicker, you have to buy the car and provide proof of purchase before application can be submitted ) Road reg - find a compliancer (there's a list of compliancers, and the cars they do)$9,900 for compliance? Not sure on the car, but EVO's are ~$6k. Shipping, that link seems high.. I went RORO (roll on roll off) for $1000 or so.. I can hook you up with a family friend who can do the minor paperwork, stamp duty (% of value) GST (10% of cost) and all that other puss (wharf fees etc) (You need a Freight forwarder) also fumigation if it's dirty.. Also need someone with an EPA license to degass the A/C (or get it degassed in the UK) (I have a contact) or else it will cost you $4k on the wharf. Some traps for new player - the blood money they want for those cars?? Here's a basic list of how -to's.. How to Import a car into Australia | eHow.com
