Of course, the bent eight guys will tell you the correct option to get rid of lag is to take the turbo off... ws
  2. Which of the forum sponsors are familiar with VCM Suite and/or Sniper? ws
  3. I like it. Max torque from 0rpm must be nice ;-) But check out Jeremy Clarkson's review on the Tesla. "[Tesla] didn’t question at all our claim that the car would have run out of electricity after 55 miles". ws
  4. That's crap. The owner's manual specifically says oil change every 15K or 12 months. So, you would be covered by warranty, no matter what it blows up. There's plenty of members on here that recommend changing oil more frequently (including me). But taking good care of your car doesn't absolve Ford from their warranty. ws
  5. I just love the way this guy says that it has "28 months platinum warranty covers everything". It's modded, so no engine/driveline warranty. New suspension, interior, stereo, custom paint job. WTF would be left to be covered? The glove box? ws

There's plenty of excellent info on DIY antennas. Google for cantenna or parabolic antennas. A good site is http://www.freeantennas.com/ The easiest template I've seen is the Windsurfer. Total cost, err, well maybe 10c for some cardboard, glue and a piece of alfoil. There's a vid here of how to make it. Note that most of these make it somewhat directional, ie effectively shield part of the signal away from one direction while 'boosting' in the other direction. hth ws
  7. well, as a boston fan and banner ain't too bad either.... audio quality is not too good, but I been x'ed ws
  8. Umm, kinda hoping to change the topic back to the original. Forget the poop and wee-wee. I wanna here the best story about projectile vomiting ws
  9. I would say that the 'problem' with flashing the factory tune is your mods. Eg, the factory tune won't cope with injectors etc. If you change everything (well, you can probably leave intake and IC) back to stock, the factory tune will probably work. ws
  10. I've had something similar happen. This was crawling in stop start traffic with very light throttle. It felt like the back end was on ice. Was sliding out to the right, or drifting left-right-left. Hard to describe, but it felt like the rear axle had disconnected from the car. Like you I pulled over hoping that at worst it was a flat. Nothing looked to be wrong. As it had just started raining lightly, and happened out the front of a servo, I put it down to oil or other crap on the road. Took it very slowly for the rest of the short trip, and haven't noticed anything since. I was also kinda surprised that TC didn't kick in. It was a very creepy feeling, especially since I was barely touching the go pedal. ws
  11. I haven't noticed this on here, so apologies if repost. ROGER CORDIA presents Incopotant Cordia Owners More Roger goodness at http://au.youtube.com/profile?user=TheCord...amp;view=videos ws
  12. I had a look at various fm radio transmitters etc a while ago. I ended up buying one from Jaycar for ~$50 that works off batteries (it's not the one that's on there now). It got a whine when plugged in. If everything is on batteries, it works fine. From hunting around, it seemed that an isolation transformer might solve the problem, though I haven't bothered buying one to try it. Also, there's some good reviews on another product here. hth ws
  13. I find it a little worrying that you're sig says you're running a generic tune and yet you're using standard unleaded ! Any pinging ? Also, re ethanol, I got a little sticker on my fuel flap that says OK to use 10%. Dunno if there's any fuels out there with more than that in it, but I'd still stick with 98 anyways... ws
  14. Sorry for bumping the thread, but thought it was better than starting a new one. I've had a tyre punctured and repaired recently. I've got a shiny new spare in the boot which probably has 0k on it. The others are ~15K of easy (relative to most other forum members) driving and look to be in good nick and have plenty of tread left. My poor brain seems to think I should fit it to the rear, cause you wouldn't want the front wriggling. But then maybe more grip should always go on the front. Buggered if I know if ABS is per wheel or not... So, the question is if I change the spare to replace the plugged one, should I fit it to the rear or the front? Cheers ws
  15. It wasn't a quote; the part below was a rewrite ws
  16. Mate, that is hellishly hard to read. It's kinda funny that the only capitals you used was the iPhone and WHEELS. Goes to show the marketing is working. Capitals are the difference between "I had to help my uncle Jack off a horse." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse". BTW, no I haven't used one, and I agree with the above that 4.8x sounds too quick for a stock xr6t. Is the 276kw meant to be fwkw or rwkw? Cheers ws ------ For those with iPhones and touch ipods, there is an application you can download that uses the motion sensor and gps to track your cars drag times anywhere you drive, eg 0-100kph, 1/8 mile 1/4 mile and so on. I had a go at using one in my FG turbo ute and did 4.82 seconds 0-100 time and with the weight included it indicated a power figure of 276kw. My car is stock standard and I am stoked with that time (quicker than a db9, m3 and w427 according to WHEELS magazine). Is it consistent to other turbo falcons and has anyone else used this "toy"? It's a very cool thing to have, as is an xr6 turbo.
  17. Thanks, Cro! That's exactly the sort of thing that should be in test reports etc. With this rain in Sydney, I'm tempted to ask what the most pothole resistant tyre is. Where I am, there's so many potholes popping up, I drive around like :headbang2: ws
  18. Cro I'm interested in your thoughts on why the michy's PS2s/PP2s are better than the F1 Assys. There's a test over on tirerack that rates the F1's as better than the PS2s. I don't believe tests as gospel, as different cars and different tyres etc probably respond differently. But would have thought that the PP2 would have been blown away by the GY's as the PP2s would be a class below that bunch of tyres ? Pls don't take this the wrong way - I haven't driven much on decent tyres, and really none of the above, so I'm first to say I'm interested in others real world experiences - especially in Falcs/xr6ts. TIA ws
  19. Since the introduction of the BF for performance models. And available on all models since the BF Series II.
  20. I thought it was the guy 3rd from the left on the top row. You will see that his entire body moves left except for a small slice of the bottom of his shoes. He becomes the first guy in the top row. And his shoes are chopped off. ws
  21. Yeah, saw that one a while ago. From memory, he actually turned out some numbers like 320hp or something? And he actually drove it, which was a worry... Anyways, I've come to the conclusion that when you see things like this if you go the last page and it's all just "shout out from chevs--suk.com" and "checking in from ilovgoatse.org" it's pretty much a worthless read after the first few pages... ws
  22. OK, I guess I'm the 'conservative' or 'hanrahan' here. If you can earn 3x as much, how long is that guaranteed for? If things go pear-shaped, is it first in, first out - ie you're the newest guy so you get the axe ? The economy (world-wide) ain't too hot at the moment and nobody can say if things are at the bottom or where the bottom is. So the equation goes if I can be employed for, say, a year at 3x, can I be unemployed for 2 years, and get the equivalent of my old job back after that? It's true it's better to take risks when you are younger, but timing is everything. I could equally argue that time is on your side. Won't you earn even more than 3x when things pick up? If you do take the new 3x, I'd also be *very* careful about spending. In fact, I reckon the best thing you could do is spend what you do now. It's very easy to spend more because you make more. That is hard to do. It's even more difficult to spend less if things go bad. Whatever you decide, good luck. ws
  23. Aaaaahhhh. Flashback.....metal showed up. Fates Warning: Guardian. Legendary Arch vocals. Have to cheat and shuffle for the Giants Lore next. ws
