Yeah, but you have to deal with the Ford workshops and after sales! I've had the door card break twice on me in 9 months, now they tell me they aren't replacing it again as I obviously lean on it! Yeah, cause all of a sudden after driving for 20 years I don't know how to get out of a car! Oh, and when they replaced a pulley last week, they forgot to plug the thermo fan back in!
-
Should see the one we just got for work! 25 hp Honda twin with I think 1500 psi! Cuts through 17mm ply like butter!
-
Lol, I was actually talking about the photo a few posts up from mine!
-
Where do you start peeling from? Probably a couple of cut lines somewhere!

sh*t, customer service is still alive eh? Nice one. If I was closer I'd go there for sure. Nice Kwaka by the way!

Didn't read the threads above, but I know a lot of manufacturers say same motor with a turbo, but there are heaps of differences internally. I've seen photos of Toyota 4WD internals for example. What state are you in also as I'm sure there's an issue in some with motor dates if you know what I mean. Good luck though. Keep everyone posted.

Saw one in the flesh today driving past the local Toyota dealer. Meh. Not terrible, but had the bonnet up. I remember them saying was a "blank canvas" as most guys who'll want more performance will mod it anyway. Might be one of those cars that once you drive it, whoa! Similar to first Type R Integra in Oz a few years back. I drove one 2 days after driving a Lotus Elise and handled almost as well. Would have bought one with the price difference. 86 might not be " fast" but "feel" fast like MX-5. Four wheel drifting one of those when I worked at a Mazda dealership was awesome. Like some of the new bikes. R1 or similar you have to be doing 250 to feel fast but more fun on a motard doing 80 sort of thing in same situation. Could be a "fun" car at lower speeds?

I'm not in the know, but I'm sure I read long ago it was an all new engine, just the same configuration as the Rex. I think there's a slight difference to the firing order so it pulses more like an inline engine and there might be a change to the injection system too. I did see something saying you can't just slap a turbo on it with Rex manifold.

G'day Guys, Just After Some Advice On These Bad Boys. Thanks :)
Rossnall replied to Rhino90's topic in Wheels and Tyres
Was lookin at that guy last night myself and would be interested on opinions of quality myself. Would 9.5"s work on front of BF? Not keen on staggered for practicality's sake. -
Oldie but still a goodie!

I agree with G6E spoiler, but would wait till you get wheels. As is would look awesome. Nice clean semi-stock looking, would make it look like an M or AMG style version if you know what I mean. Upmarket but sportier than G6E style sort of. If you're gonna go black or dark wheels, wait and see how it looks, could change the overall package if all that makes sense?

Where To Go In Bris/redlands For Gb Service
Rossnall replied to Rossnall's topic in Driveline Workshop
Let us know how it goes. What's it worth as a comparison? -
How much would it cost to have someone weld the ballistic cat in? Will it go onto the factory exhaust setup?
I was quoted about 2 hrs give or take 15 @ $60/hr. Plus tuning costs.

Thanks mate. I stuffed up my dates though and I might be going down next week! I had resigned myself to going locally for a bit more coin. See how I go. Where's M1 at? -
Mate, that's clean as. Looks like a photo Ford would have used in the brochure!
-
Know what you mean, even worse In Bundy! At least you've got a couple of guys in Gladdy. No-one in Bundy to tune. Been quoted about $400 more from only automatic guy here than my old guy in Bris for ZF service. Almost worth taking a drive and setting heaps of stuff up to do all at once.

Did you only get 3 coats from the 3 cans on the wheels or does that include wing as well. I bought 2 cans for my wheels (standard BF 17s) as I thought that'd be heaps. I did a small test on a bin at work today and did 2 light coats and it was pretty thin. Sort of peeled like the vids but you could tell it needed more coats to have some strength and be able to do that full peel. By the way, the F6 looks awesome. Not normally a fan of that style wheel, but suit the car really well, and love the yellow badge/sticker!

I haven't done a car, but I've bought a couple of cans to do my standard wheels. I did a test at work on a steel bin. Only did 2 coats as a test and peeled ok. Not as easily as in the vids, but they do 5 coats and would be a lot stronger than what I did. I'd say it would peel that easy going by this, but didn't really have a "cut line" like they do either. Worth a shot to see if OP likes it matte, leave it for a while and if he does, then get it painted?

Can you adjust the speedo reading with tuning if you change to 20s or is it a fixed gearing thing?
-
Where'd you get them from mate? What size rims front/rear? Ballpark $?

As the title suggests, I'm heading to Brisbane next month and am wanting to get the ZF serviced while I'm down there. Any recommendations in the Redlands or nearby? I think I'll use genuine fluid.
As soon as I get 4 people saying "I'll have one, when do you want a deposit" it will will go ahead.
As long as it fits stock exhaust (BF)- I'll have one, when do you want a deposit

Best piece of advice I can offer is just keep looking. I spent about three months looking through all the sites and then one popped up in my local paper (in Bundaberg!) that fit the bill perfectly. BF Mark I with 130K km for $13K. I was looking at BAs in same condition for $15K odd. And it was in exactly the spec and colour I wanted. Admittedly, a bit of luck though. I need to have a gearbox service and some suspension bushes plus about $500 of minor work and it's in great nick. All up will be a good car for about $15K odd. Ask the seller if they've had a gearbox service and if they say no cause they were told it's a sealed for life unit, get it checked. That's what Ford tell people apparently as they should be ok not touched till they're out of warranty. I'm up for $1200 odd for gearbox service (oil is $60 odd a litre). If you plan on doing bit of work to it, look for the newer ones with better specs as suggested, but I'd suggest getting at least BF with ZF box (which it looks like you are already). Beautiful to drive, especially compared to 4 speed. Other than that, as said, post up an add if you see one and best of luck. These things are awesome for the money they are going for these days!
