  1. @masda74 It's a Miele, for a start...so build quality is a big tick. But other selling points are the water and energy efficiency of it, that and it'll give me the option to fully-integrate it when I redo my kitchen if I so desire.
  2. Morning all. Just dropped my internet plan down. Been paying $100 a month for top tier 100/40, but figured it's probably overkill for just myself and the missus...so be interested to see if I notice much of a difference in my experience dropping to the 50/20 plan. Saves me $20 a month though, so that's a bonus.
  3. Thanks @El Andrew that's actually a really helpful breakdown
  4. Was trying to get my head around what the ATO website reckons about tax rates for lump sum payments, as I'll be getting paid out a bunch of annual and long service leave when I finish up here and was trying to figure out how much I should walk away with...my head hurts though and I gave up trying to follow it...
  5. Exactly, so stop being needy
  6. This thread has definitely been quieter since you went AWOL @Bizkets is Drunk? Welcome back!
  7. I have whole house ducted reverse cycle aircon. If I didn't I would agree with you haha. Besides, this way I'm set once batteries come down in price.
  8. Work paid me a bonus this year, so rather than waste it I've decided (given it's extra cash) to use it to bolt a whole bunch of solar panels to the roof of my house. Paid the deposit today and should, all things going to plan, be installed before I start my new job. Went with: 22x Optimised Canadian Solar split cell PERC 300W panels SolarEdge HD Wave 5kW inverter SolarEdge Energy Meter
  9. GF works in marketing for a wholesale hair and beauty company and organises training events etc. I ended being a model for a barber from Melbourne this morning to demonstrate different fade techniques etc. Both my GF and I went in expecting me to leave with some hectic fade and looking forward to my hair growing back...but both actually pretty stoked with my new do! Old lady even dropped over earlier and reckons it looks good and I should find a barber over here who can do it like this for me.
  10. It's definitely going to be a fairly sizeable lifestyle adjustment I reckon. I've done FIFO for nearly 8 years straight...so going to a Mon-Fri is going to challenging in some ways, as 2 day weekends will seem pretty short. Man, I can't even remember the last time I sung
  11. Afternoon/evening all. Back to work tomorrow morning for my final 4-day swing of FIFO.
  12. Yeah, especially since it's just as I'm flying out on break
  13. My boss was sick earlier this week...one of the other seniors suggested perhaps he shouldn't be at work...guess who's currently got no voice and coming down sick
  14. Dear god, what is THAT sorcery?! Morning all! Fly-out day!
  15. Wednesday between 8am and 1pm, apparently. Miele deliver for free, but I paid for them to install it and remove and take away my old one too. After all the issues my GF has had with her dishwasher and the back and forward with companies, I'm happy to pay Miele to install it - that way if anything ever goes wrong it's entirely on them (which is what the lady at the shop said as well).
  16. Yeah, fark that!
  17. I've had a dishwasher in a previous rental a couple of houses ago, so I definitely know what I've been missing out on! GF also has one at her place. My house actually came with one, but it was a really old dishdrawer and one of the circuit boards farked out ages ago and would turn itself on and run cycles randomly...so I just turned it off at the power point and left it. Couldn't justify the cost of fixing it, when it was old and horrible anyway, so figured I'd put the money I'd spend on repairing it towards a new one. Was chatting to the missus about it recently and saying I was about ready to actually buy a new one and she reckons it'd be potentially hamstringing myself with respects to potential kitchen design when I redo my kitchen in the future, as I may want a fully integrated etc in my new kitchen. Took what she said on board and found that Miele sell stainless steel fascia panels for some of their fully integrated dishwashers. So I thought that'd be a good way to go - means I can use that fascia for now and then potentially use a proper integrated panel when I redo the kitchen. Got myself this one: https://www.miele.com.au/domestic/dishwashers-2510.htm?mat=10470900&name=G_6660_SCVi 5-star water rating and 4.5 star energy rating. Has auto-load sensing, so I can run a half-size load and it'll only use like 6.5L of water...which is considerably less than doing them by hand!
  18. Morning! One more sleep!
  19. I miss fresh bread-maker bread. Mum used to make it when I was younger, god it was awesome to come home to! Speaking of appliances, didn't buy it today but I bought a new dishwasher last break and it gets delivered on Wednesday when I get home...pretty excited to not have to do dishes by hand anymore! Also considering using a chunk of the bonus I get paid this week to get a big solar setup on my roof so I can run the ducted aircon all summer without worrying about the associated power bills!
  20. Got one more 4-day swing after this, but I'm done with FIFO after that. Will be doing a couple of site visits per month for training/support, but won't be long stints at least and I'll be home every weekend
  21. Morning! One more sleep after tonight and I get to go home
  22. This is usually when the missus and I sprawl out on the sofa and watch tv haha.
  23. Doubt it. I only really used it when I was home during week in the days and didn't have other stuff to do. I get the distinct impression there's even less chance I'll use it once I'm home all the time, as the time after getting home from work will be spent making and eating dinner, tidying up and chilling for a couple of hours before bed.
  24. Trent, I reckon grab a couple of cheap 22" monitors for work and keep yours at home. Or buy a cheap 22" and take that and your current one to work and get yourself a new one for home. Speaking of sim racing setups...think I've used mine like 3 times since I bought it all...that was a well spent chunk of cash
