I'm Sick Of Paying So Much
If I read it right, you also have agreed value on the car. If this is the case then that along with Postcode age etc will send it through the roof. My Sep 03 BA NA with full comprehensive was $825 thru Comminsure. The new quote for the Mazda with agreed value of $43500 was $1197.00. Im 44 and live in Queanbeyan.

Think I Got Screwed
Yep you're right. I was still sething but now that I've had a Bex and a lie down, I realise I was only venting. Redbook is between 17-19,000, so it looks like a private sale. Sorry for sounding like a spoilt brat but I expected a little more for such a good make of car

Think I Got Screwed
Bought a NA BA XR6 new sep 03. Paid $42,000 for it (tint, premiun sound, power pedals paint protection 6 stack CD etc etc etc). Put a totally enjoyable 83,500ks on it since then, regularly serviced by one dealer. Car in excellent condition considering the country Ks (few stonechips on bonnet). Lovingly looked after. Went for trade-in on F6 and was offered $17,000 WTF Obviously you dont want my money Mr Ford.... :cussing:

Who Has Problems With Their Car?
Mate, I dont know what there servicing dept are like, but Southside Ford at the Gabba looked after me exceptionally well when I bought the wifes Focus that I travelled from Wagga to buy the XR from them. Give them a go(if you havent already) and let us know how you get on Cheers, Hamo. BTW they're running out 04 GTs for $60K drive away at the moment.

Lifter Like Noise On Start
I still have the problem with my NA. Ford's answer was that it is valve train noise (it only does it between 1500 and 2000 rpm when the motor is still cold) the service manager down here says his does it as well and theres nothing they can do as its an inherent problem. If this is so then why dont they all do it?????? Apart from being embarrassing it is a worry and by the time I get it to Ford the noise has gone as the car is warm. Try an independent (trusted) mechanic and take their verdict to Ford. It might add weight to a warranty claim. good luck with it mate. Cheers, Hamo

Tyre's
Ive just had my SP3000s replaced with Fulda's, a German tyre s'posedly good for 45000Ks with nitrogen inflation. went in for 2 as they were fried on the rear and was shown the fronts complete with cuts. I now have 4 new tyres. I'll be checking with ford as to warranty, thanks all for the tips. Regards, Hamo

Ever Wondered?
Why does the word monosyllabic have so many syllables? If coconut oil comes from coconuts, where does baby oil come from? If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat? Where does your lap go when you stand up? Where do flies go at night? Why are they called butterflies when they dont taste like butter? If you rip off a flies wings, does it then become a walk?

PC Driving Games - V8 Supercars
Ive had a Saitek force feedback wheel for almost 3 yrs and it is still going strong think I paid about $300 for it but you would probably find it cheaper nowadays.

Will Marcos do it again?
There is still going to be an enquiry into the "brake test" incident and the after race "discussion" he had with Kelly. He's already copped a $10K fine over it, may lose some points too. It was interesting what Murphy said about Ambrose in the Daily Telegraph yesterday" He makes out he's a goody two shoes and every body should run around behind him." Hello??? most of them do!!!! The point is that twice on the weekend Kelly put out two drivers due to over exuberance and then put Bright into the wall. And he gets a slap on the wrist. Murphy also said Kelly had every right to pressure Ambrose in the first race even though he was a lap down. Call me stupid but Kelly's actions were nothing more than an effort to try and bring him undone therefore fall behind in the Championship. I must be getting old but Kelly's actions smell like spoilt brat syndrome. Yes he is a good driver but come on Kelly, grow up.

Aussie soldiers are the best
I cant believe some of the stuff Im reading here. We live in a free society, do what we want (as long as it's not illegal, immoral or fattening). We dont have curfews as they do in some countries. we wear what clothes we want. We arent persecuted for the beliefs we follow. We can speak our mind/ express our views without fear of reprisals. WE CAN WALK DOWN OUR STREETS WITHOUT FEAR.(usually) I feel the original author was expressing a concern that we are not "up to the task" in the world's eye. NOT that he thought we were'nt up to it. Our defence force (well, the Army anyway) is one of the best trained in the world and our casualty list supports this (501 KIA in Vietnam compared with phenominal numbers of US soldiers). As a small force we are more than up to the task and professional to the end. We are disciplined and focussed. NOT complacent we know our limitations and work on strengthening those. I come from a family that has served in all theatres of conflict as I'm sure some of the members here have as well. I have 18 yrs of service and still going strong. I am patriotic and passionate about the country I live in. Our Defence force is "over there" not only helping the cause but also sending a message not to mess with us as we will defend our homeland. Just as we did in WW2 when the Japanese tried to invade Darwin. Now that Ive had my 60 seconds of rhetoric (and probably stirred up a hornets nest) I leave you with one thought. If your reading this... Thank a teacher If your reading this in english and not afraid of reprisals for doing so.....thank a soldier.

Fog Lights/ Driving Lights
Legal or illegal, moral or immoral it makes no difference. I drive with mine on as it makes a phantom coloured car easier to see (and if you've ever been to Wagga you'll know what I mean...these people would have trouble seeing a bright irridescent candy apple pink Kenwood B Double with all lights blazing ). If they can see it hopefully they wont hit it. I didnt pay $40,000 to have some clown "not see me coming" If you want a good b**ch session come to Wagga on a friday/saturday night and see how many wankers drive around with only 1 headlight working. Yes rear fog lights are f@#king annoying.

This car is getting to be as common as muck :-)
NA, 39000ks and just over 1 yr old. Common car? well there's ten at my work utes, Ts and NA's. Ive got the only phantom sedan though and it sticks out like the proverbial. However there are gutloads of phantoms in Wagga. And one only Herrod XR8. Damn it looks good. Speaking of Wagga, hey Zadank! I havent seen you around town for a while.

12 points is not enough for everyone
I feel 12 points is pretty adequate. :auto: I've had my XR since sep 03 and have 31,000 on the clock and only lost 3 demerit points so far by not paying attention through a small town about 300m long. I will rack up at least 45000 by years end. If you watch the speed you wont get booked( hopefully). Yes 110 is mind numbing I usually sit on 115-120 and have passed radars without being pulled over . I suppose it depends on the officer and tolerances.(it might depend on the car, age of driver, volume level of stereo and/or exhaust etc.) I know in the Military we give up to 10 Ks over before we book our blokes. maybe Plonky could give up some secrets on tolerances As for CC, it will set at just over 40. However I beleive in the bad luck theory.. wrong place, wrong time, wrong speed

What Build Date is your car?
I bought the XR fog lamp guards. Takes about 10 mins to fit and only cost $34.00. A lot better than paying $140 to replace foglamp. This poses a question.... Why make plexiglas headlights but glass foglights... methinks the foggies should be plexiglass too.... or is that the new moneyspinner from Ford

do you have any funny sayings or insults!
Afew more for you. Couldnt drive out of sight on a dark night I dont have a quota Sir, the boss said I can book as many as I like I filled my quota ages ago, this one is for fun Cop to a young P Plater clocked at 170Kph on Hume Hwy" Ive been waitng for you all day" P Plate replies" well I got here as fast as I could" couldnt find his way out of a round room couldnt train a choko vine to grow over a sh!t house Came out of the shallow end of the gene pool dived into the gene pool but the tide was out. When they handed out brains you thought they said trains and missed yours. To a complete idiot "God sent you here to punish me didnt he?' She/hes got a head like a beaten favourite. 'You finished second? So you're the first loser?" IF you aint Ford, you aint. Seen on a Tshirt years ago "I didnt go to (insert place here) but I F@#ked the wife of a bloke who did" And finally, after the Aussies went to East Timor there was a No plate in the NT that belonged to a disgruntled soldier FETISH F@#k East Timor I Stayed Home Cheers, Hamo

Tyre life
Ive got the original SP3000As with 30000 and not looking to change them. Had Beaurepairs here in Wagga put Nitrogen in them, never have to check pressures and they improve the life of the tyre. Should get about 45000 hopefully. Only problem is the local sh!ts like to knock off the pretty red valve caps
