The 400 Mission
I spoke to one of the guys from a reputable shop and he said there is definitely something wrong. He thinks the car is way under powered and that the gtx3582r is a great turbo with characteristics comparable to the factory turbo. This is a reassuring bit of information as this was why I got this turbo in the first place. He said it was interesting that the dyno dynamics run reads less than the mainline, as historically speaking, mainline are more conservative. He said a 360rwkw on a dyno dynamics is roughly 350rwkw on a mainline. Whether or not this is true, I don't know as im not a dynometer professional. He said with the mods I have, I should easily be seeing over 400 and that is what I thought all along. He also said there is definitely a problem with the power if I can't break traction. He said with that much power and with the turbo being quick to come in to boost, I should be breaking traction really, really quickly. He basically said it would be undrivable on the street. He told me to look at what actuator went on and the quality of the wastegate mod, because to him it seems like there is a problem somewhere. I asked him about a pre load check, and he said that it should have been done when the mod was getting done. I'm unsure if monsta torque did the mod or they sourced it from elsewhere, but will ask the question. I rang mtq, which is where I got the turbo from and told them that the turbo is not performing the way I had anticipated, and they said that if I take the turbo off the car they will test it to see that it is working properly. they said that they can't put a bigger comp wheel in the turbo as it's in the limit as it is. They said that the new gtx series are really good and that I shouldn't be seeing huge amounts of lag. Should I be expected to pay to get the turbo taken off the car? Where do I stand with all of this

That is exactly how I see it too. The curve should be sky rocketing when it comes on to full boost, yet it calms down??? I don't get it I thought it was like this Lots of revs, lots of boost, smoke, grin, goodbye ss.... Mines more like Lots of revs, have a cuppa, share a story, then hold on for dear life

Good question. I never asked what it made stock

Roof, I might take you up on that offer! Will be good to compare and see what you think of mine too. Plus it would be good to put a face to a name. I'm north of the river, but keen to drive anywhere. Any excuse to go for a drive! Im back on 19th (I work away) but if you have some time after that, it would be good to catch up.

One tank of fuel... 400km if that....

The 400 Mission
I do still have the original turbo. That is definitely an avenue to look at. I promise you though, I won't be buying anothe turbo without the go ahead from a tuner. LESSON TO BE LEARNT!!! The comment about a stock car beating me to 120 is spot on. That is rvactly what I thought when I got the car back

did I see you? Sorry if I did see ya and didn't say hello

The 400 Mission
There isn't a huge difference between the two graphs?

The 400 Mission
I ran it past both shops and fell victim to forum banter. If a new turbo will make all these problems go away, then so be it. Its going to come to this... FOR SALE: gtx3582r, 100km done on the turbo.... I seen a power run on the nizpro car while I was there. Very loud and sounded off its head. Did Simon say what turbo he would be using if we did swap it out?

The 400 Mission
The car is really noisy when it comes on to boost, but I assume it is the pod/turbo. He didn't say anything when he did the power run.
-
The 400 Mission
I'm not really complaining about the power it is making, but I think that if the boost came on earlier, it would be a quicker car with more power. There is more in the car as the graph shows. It is still gaining power at rev cut. What I want to see is something like the graph above, where the car is making full power well before rev cut. Then I will be happy seeing that the car is at its full potential.

The 400 Mission
I think I have the supporting mods to go 400 too, and that's why Ive started to dig a bit deeper as to why I'm not even close (car ran 360 on xft dyno) The fact of the matter is the car is running 17.8psi and not making the same power, as early, as other cars with similar mods. I'm going to leave the car with another tuner to iron out what ever is causing the lag/lack of power. Should I mention manifold bolts, clamps, pre load testing the actuator? Or are these thing going to become apparent when he starts working with the car?

The 400 Mission
Alf05t, I'm away working so can't check over the car at the moment. I would like to think that everything was done up tight!

The 400 Mission
yours is making a good chunk of power at just over 4000. mine is only just starting at 4000. what gives? and yet mine makes torque a lot earlier than yours. has this got to do with mods, tune or fuel?
-
The 400 Mission
My tuner has said that he can't get anymore boost out of it down low, so as far as I'm aware I'm stuck with the lag. It makes me wonder how my car is different to others? The only thing I can think of is to take some boost out and add some timing to get it moving down low.

Bov For G6Et Want The Dose Flutter Sound
Will the bigger bov vent enough air so that I will not get compressor surge. Has anyone done a before and after?
-
The 400 Mission
By going with the gtx series turbo, and not the largest of turbos... I thought the power, boost and torque curves would have been near on vertical at 3000 and plateau at 4000 with a nice 400kw flat line. Now this is all wishful thinking and the dyno graph proofs otherwise, but how I see it is.... If I can get lots of boost in early, it will make more power, more efficiantlly because the car is on a steady rise all the way through to rev cut. Now the question is. How hard can this be, and is it worth chasing the pipe dream?
-
The 400 Mission
I have a pretty big intercooler along with a big exhaust so that might be the difference between having my car come on late or early. I would love to see the dyno sheet come on early and have a steep incline then plateau in the top end.

The 400 Mission
I'm open to anything that will get the car on boost earlier!

Bov For G6Et Want The Dose Flutter Sound
I got it but don't want the flutter or (dose?? where the f*ck does dose come from?) anyway mine is a g6et and I hate the flutter. its so loud and it makes my sleeper sound like a truck. I guess its a trade off when going with bigger power/boost/piping etc anyway of getting rid of the flutter? will an aftermarket plumb back bov allow more air to flow out at the throttle body end? does it plumb back into the air intake, before the turbo?

The 400 Mission
Yeah I dont want this to turn into a "workshop x is better than workshop y" Like I said before, I will end up goin with the easiest, most effective way that will make the car better. The last thing I want is Rob and Simon in a sh*t fight based on my car, and that is not why I am here. I'm here trying to gather information and mannerisms of other cars with the same power levels as mine. The reason I stress all of this is, someone can read this and judge/question the professionalism of rob and the monsta torque brand, and by going to Simon, it'll make everything better. This is not the case as I have made hard work for both shops by providing them with a turbo that they wouldn't normally use. Sorry to repeat myself, but as Dave has said, It can easily escalate into a my d*cks bigger than your d*ck between the 2 shops. And that is the last thing I need, because there will be no one left to work on the car!

The 400 Mission
I've had a think about it and I'm not going to get a new turbo. The car is quick, and I'm happy with it. I'm thinking about taking it to Simon. Won't cost me a thing if he can't better it. Nothing to lose, everything to gain so to speak. I can't justify spending any more money on another turbo, when I have just paid near on 2g for garetts "latest technology" If simon struggles with the car too, then I will walk away with my tail between my legs.... Then forget everything I have said in this post..... Then build up the courage to spend another wad of cash..... And then probably be in a similar position regarding something else in the car in the new year. The car is over budget at the moment, and I need to draw the line somewhere. Haha the modding bug has definetly bitten with this car!
