    Unopened Class

as long as it gets off the ground I am happy, and I will adjust my car to a class, if people don't stick to the rules well they are just cheating themselves,
  2. I think either one is good, but remember the power is not a problem with the xr6t , you can get another 50 kw out of it with inlet and some other small mods, but it is the driveline that is the weak link, (but that is the same in both) is the twin turbo legal ? With the right convertor your car has the ability to run a ten, (street trim) would be nice to see that first. and I think it is worth thinking how you would feel if it never could match your six, because it is very posible. it is heavier than your six so more strain on your driveline, but there is allways the sound. david

    Unopened Class

When I wrote them last night I pretty much imagined it as going along a nizpro/aps route stock being, you just got the car/you dont want to spend much on it Modified your probably half way in between a phaze 1-2 pro modified your on par for a phaze 3 unlimited you have a wallet that could feed a small nation so given that Valve springs are pretty common at a phaze 1/2 level then I would be inclined to see them permited in the modified class but not in the stock class (not that you would need them) The other question I would like to pose is should the Typhoon compete with the XR6 in the stock and modified brackets (as it comes factory fitted with upgraded internals) or should it compete at these 2 levels in its own class? Dynowog, The problem with the 2 classes, (unopened vs opened) is that there are alot of cars at the extremities, Its nice to somewhat take things in baby steps, compete in stock you then move up into modified and then on to pro modified and so on, it means that everybody no matter how much or how little has someway of being competitive in a category. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IN the end I am happy to go along with the majority, (I am happy to leave them alone,) I think the Typhoon should be aloud to run in stock class, it was made to rule, that's why they pay the big bucks, not a bad way of getting around the springs and internals, but will that make up for the auto advantage, time will tell.

    Unopened Class

Sounds good, what does others feel about valve springs,? does this count? it is just that other unopened classes do let you change them . (I don't want to change them if it means going up a class) but I think what you have covers everyone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Valve springs seriously limit power so even with my 245rwkw, I would be in the highest category because I have had springs done. I would get smashed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think your car should be in xr6turbo modified, so you are racing standed internals, (except valve springs,) other wise xr6t's will look wimpy next to other unopened classes.

    Capa Flash

I don't run an edit but I know of some that have, and it is the best you can get with out touching any other part of the car, but get it custom tuned to your car and the fuel you are going to use, (good insurance) it is only about 1500ish all up, but will be more powerfull and less risk then just the basic edit. Unopened Class

Well if that's the case why have any class other than open slather? I think you've missed the whole point. The discussion was about catering for everyone - not just the so-called "serious racers". To me, and it seems a lot of others as well, it's more important how your car performs in street trim - isn't this how you drive it every day? If you want to build a purely strip car and drag it to the track behind a Landcruiser ... I think the difference between using standard street radials and something like Nittos is going to be 1 to 2 secs for some cars ... but if you think that isn't a major factor ??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I take it that by standed, you mean Dunlops,(Dunlop would like that) but most of us don't run them any more, I don't, mine only got 5000 k's, (no traction) I have got more k's out of my nitto's, verry hard to pick and choose between diferent radial tyres. I understand what you are saying, but without nominating the tyre the car came with, it is very hard to regulate, a lot have gone to 18's and 19's, all of diferent Quality's. I do drive with my nitto's on the steet, because when you get a high power level I think they are a good value street tyre for the traction level, nitto's changed my 60 ft times from 2.0 sec to 1.8 sec, that's .2 of a sec not two sec. I think the Micky Thompson et street tyre and the like, give a lot better grip but you would be lucky to get 1000 k's out of them, maybe have a class (standed dunlops only) what a coincidence Craig's got that one to.
  8. Hi brian, do you think you could check with the others in the pic's, and if all don't mined, name them to there picture, just so we from a distance can put a face to the ones we are talking to, I will not be offended if some don't want this over the net but thought I would ask anyway, thanks either way. David
  9. Well done, another 11 sec xr6t,
  10. well done, what track did you run that at?
  11. Probably better coming from the horses mouth but I think he's having transmission problems <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks, hope it all works out for him,
  12. what happened to the xr6t that was going for a Nine, sorry if I missed his posts, but I thought he was only weeks away from having a go, (that was month or two ago ithink) hope nothing whent wrong. (Spiko I think).

    Unopened Class

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn u guys are funny I jus puttin in some input.. blueboost: with a 12.42 mine might be rice ( for sale atm for a T) but it would be right along your side <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No problem, I like rice as a side dish, ( I think it is good for you) yes I that 12.42 is a bit slack, I will have to do something about that real soon. would the unopened be untouched inside, (no valve spring changes,) although I would rather that they could not be changed, it would reflect badly on the t, because other unopened classes let them upgrade . I also think even if we started with too many classes, the importent ones will rise to the top, and the other ones will slowly fade anyway, I think 1 street, the other xr6t's with the only restriction that it has to be a xr6t motor, eg; cortina or the like. and then have the other smaller classes under these two main classes. Unopened Class

we could have an other class, Restricted rice,( maybe one full plate ).
  15. I thought that too until I saw the extra footage at the end of the broadcast that showed the corner before were Skaife locked up his brakes on cold tyres and used Ambrose's car to keep him on the track. Then tried to uses his new found track position allongside to push Marcos onto the grass. All Marcos did was hold his own, and so the stewards awarded no penalty, deciding Honk reaped what he sowed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Queenslander!

the doggy's thought that to on friday night, Matty and his mates will get us home.
  17. bet the poor car running the 12 beside you did, hope he did not get out thinking his car stoped.
  18. Craig was anything mentioned about a cage now, or will they let you still run once it is back in street trim?
  19. Hi I just thought I would put my two bobs worth in, I think the main objective of the rewards is so capa can advertise that an edited car is running tens, (good advertisement, ) and it has worked. I think Craig still has the exede in his car because of it's ability to have a higher power level at the flick of a switch, as for Mackas comment, I think that the 11.58 is better as well, but that did not make this acomplishment any less speical. I think you will find the c/v car was not street as well, ( slicks and speical fuel and no cat ) but that was speical to at the time. Congrats Craig on your consistent ten sec runs, Sig looks good.
  20. I have got tyres and other things, yes there will be import duties, and gst. also get a price on frieght because this can cost a lot for something that heavy, if you are in ahurry, for a 1000 dollars you will pay about 160 dollers gst, duties, and other costs. hope this helps. David

    He's Done It

Well done Craig, good mph to.
  22. well done
  23. sad to say the least towed and sorted!!! craig you keeping the car off the road another week???? or had enough??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Spent the day with Rob @ HPF. We have decided to go back again next Friday. I've organised with Jeff to have his C16 and will have the car tuned to this. The car has been running VP 109ron fuel so this should give a little more power. Rob's also going to have a chat to Danny (HPF edit tuner) and see if he can get some more power down low. Rob believes that if we can drop the 60' times we should get 10's easier. I'm currently getting 1.80 60' and he feels this is letting the car down. Traction isn't an issue with the MT Street tyres I just need to get out of the hole quicker. In the mean time it means that I'm driving around in a clapped out Mitsubishi Colt. It's better than walking, but only just. Hi Craig, when I was at the drags, we tried some mt street tyres on my mates xy, he had pulled 1.87 on Nitto's, but on mt's he pulled 1.58 60ft, so what ever grunt you can get down low will help. David
  24. Hi here is my latest time slip, 12.422 @ 113.9 2.03 60ft thanks
  25. that's a good time and mph, what tyres were you running, and have you got standed gearing. my brother ran his gt ba auto last night , edit ,headers, and cold air intake. ran best of 13.9 @ 104.4, edit is not custom tuned yet. David
