  1. Ah. Another bonnet vent thread. Im all for them though I wish they were standard or factory optioned. Ford put them on a non turbo model and then omit them on a turbo model - weird. Do they add to performance? Probably but only marginally and that from heat soak. What about the rice factor? Whats rice for one is not necessarily the same for another. If its done properly and tastefully then I say go for it. My idea of the best bonnet vent is an xr8 bonnet with the rear slant of the power bulge cut out and replaced with mesh. Regards, Max
  2. I emailed teac and spoke to a guy on the phone in Sydney and he confirmed that there are no dvb400's in the factory. Maybe 4runner knows a bit more than this guy. Help 4runner.
  3. I'd like to come and spectate too though I'm worried about leaving the car in the general carpark area. Is there an infield area where we can all leave our cars together that the public cant get to? Regards, Max
  4. Ive got a MkII T and just wanted to know if the engine internals have been beefed up over the MkI. I'm mainly interested in knowing, in case I ever do any performance mods, if the valve springs or the conrods have been upgraded over the MkI's. Going by all the threads Ive read on valve spring quality and reliability issues, I thought that these might have been changed over for MkII. I didnt think the conrods would be changed over but then I came across this quote from a popular performance tuner site which suggests otherwise; 'With the new Mk 2 XR6, concerns about bent connecting rods at these power levels are quite limited.' And finally, is the clutch kit in the XR6T MkII different to the one in the F6? Regards, Max.

I too would prefer the factory appearance of the fpv pod gauge holder so I can find suitable gauges. So can anyone tell me where and how much for the pod gauge holder? I had an idea for split gauges (2 in each). If you take the size of the ford fuel and temp gauges as a basis, they would look, imo, quite at home. Question is; can you get split gauges? If so, where and Im there. Regards, Max
  6. If they're not DTM 078's then they're the closest thing to them. http://www.dtm.com.au/main_content.html
  7. Unfortunately, I worked on the Sunday and couldn't make it. I'll PM Scruffman and see if I can get some advise. Thanks.
  8. Read my first post in this topic As I said; I used the left and right high outputs from the BA head unit (you find them connected to the left and right speakers in the rear parcel shelf). Splice onto them just before the speaker. You will need a high to low (RCA) converter after the splice. Do not put more speakers directly off the splice/head unit because the factory head unit doesnt have enough power to drive more cones. Go into and amp via a converter. Clear? Cheers! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi veczar. If the amp behind the left side cover in the boot powers more than just the sub like the parcel shelf speakers (does it?), wouldn't it be better to splice into the rear parcel shelf speaker wires before they go through the amp and therefore remove the need for high to low converters? Regards, Max
  9. Hey CJF077. I just came back from having the windows tinted on my wife's car. I remember seeing this thread yesterday but thought to hold off on replying until I see the results. The guy's name is Bob, he lives in Picnic Point and he's had about 20 years window tinting experience owning several Solace franchises along the way. Let me just say that the job was just excellent, the price was fantastic and Bob is the best guy you can ever meet. Im taking my T to Bob for tinting next week now that I tested him out with the wife's car PM me for Bob's phone number. Im sure you wont be disappointed. A big thanks to Cro (Ivan) for referring me to Bob. Regards, Max
  10. Ive read most of the threads on theories and concepts of adding digital tvs and dvd players to the ICC. I sensed the frustration in alot of members who, like me, want it but cant get straight answers. I started this thread rather than post another unanswered reply so I can find out right here and now for myself and others if its currently possible and if so then how. Someone wrote that 300-400 bucks is reqd for digital TV. Ive got that amount, am happy to pay and want the information to make that happen. Someone else wrote that the preferable car dvd player is a chipped X-Box at around the $250 mark. Got that amount too but need all the necessary info to hook that up before I go out and get one. Id like to do most of the work myself to (a) get satisfaction from sense of achievment and (b) save a buck or two. Im not electronically minded though Im the one the family calls when they get a new tv, video or dvd player, etc and they want it setup. I know how to fit a car alarm or install a sound system but lose it with diodes, caps, pcb, etc. Please, please, please keep the acronyms to a minimum also as it took me forever to work out what stb was (havent worked out scart yet - should I?). Actually, Im imposing a ban from acronyms in this thread. I realise that others might not want to do it themselves and will ask for installation help. This might be the reason why the experts are reluctant to offer info as they dont have the time to help out. I guess this is another issue. So how about it? Can anyone help? Regards, Max
  11. Hi guys. Got a MkII with premium sound and have a bit of a dilemma. Ive got a rockford fosgate 500X 4 channel amp and HE2 12" sub still in boxes that I got from the U.S. They were planned to go in the R8 clubbie before I saw the light and sold it to get the T. The premium sound sounds good enough though the factory sub is pretty crappy to the point that you cant tell that youve got one. I'd like to bridge the sub off 2 channels and run some upgraded 6x9s in the parcel shelf. Some of the questions I have; Do I leave it alone or mod it? If mod = yes then ; What 6x9s (or whatever is used in the parcel shelf) should I run? Given that the cars standard amp is in the boot behind the left side cover, will the wire tapping to the new amp be straight foward or are there gonna be unforseen issues? Anything I may have missed that you want to add? What do you experts think? P.S. Anyone have schematics that they can send me? Regards, Max
  12. If anyone knows specifics that will make me avoid walking in to Jaycar with a window switch in pieces stating 'Can I have one of these (pointing) but in blue?' then dont hesitate to add to this even if it may seem obvious to you. Not soon after I started this thread that I got in my car and the driver's window went down by itself and I could hear the relays clicking away like the switch was held down. It happened again after about 15 minutes so that's twice now in a 1 week old MkII A few days ago I couldn't get the window to open when I wanted it to and now it opens when I don't. Gotta add this to my warranty fix list after rattling 6speed shifter Therefore Im gonna hold off from doing this mod until its fixed. Regards, Max
  13. Being a MKII all the window switches are now illuminated but the light is white. What do I need to change them to the blue light e.g. name of light, model no., supplier, etc.? Regards, Max
  14. Does anyone know if the XR6T mkII with 6 speed will get the AP racing twin plate clutch as in the F6 Typhoon? If not then what do you get? Cheers Max

I think that 3 maps would be perfect; 1 for street. 1 for racing/strip. 1 for crap fuel or no PULP situations.
  16. Max Power replied to haz's topic in Ford Discussion
Like haz, I too have been waiting for the BAII since May. I was hoping that a 5 speed auto will be offered. Seeing that that's not on the cards now and it might be a 6 speed sometime next year and it might be the jag box and that the jag box now might not be up to it, etc., Im gonna go for the T56. Its good in a way as Im partial to manuals anyway. The specs are; Sillouette, T56, luxury pack, premium brakes, momo wheel, and maybe a sunroof if the price is right. Regards, Max
  17. I love the GT boot spoiler though the centre support, which wasn't on the motor show prototype car, spoils (hah) it a bit. Can someone tell me if it will fit in the existing mounting holes of an XR6 or not? Didn't mean to hijack the thread - sorry Michael. Regards, Max
  18. Ive heard bits and pieces about the Atkins diet and was thinking of giving it a go. Can someone post it or pm it to me so I can see if it suits me or not? Regards, Max
  19. Hi Jason. Im old school so saying 1/4 mile sounds cooler than saying 400 metres. In my mind they are the same. All e.t's are for 400metres as theyre on aussie cars in Australia by aussie reporters for aussie mags. Sorry if I confused anyone. I dont want to sidetrack the direction this thread was going. BTW when youre doing 100mph+ at the end of 400m, the extra 2.336 metres wouldn't add even 0.1 sec.
  20. No problems Jeff. I couldn't be happier with the replies that have come about. Like jteale, I am confused and cant understand why a PhaseII XR6T with T56 would only be good for a 14.0 qtr if a stocker is managing a 13.9. Even more interesting is when I found the table from Dr. Z's Performance zip file in the 'APS Power/Torque/Price numbers' thread. This shows that the APS cars, all manual (T5) do; PhaseI = 13.6 PhaseII = 12.8 PhaseIII = 11.6 Im not questioning the times as the power figures seem to justify these. Im puzzled though that a journo in a day can extract more out of a car and set an e.t. that a similar powered T by its owner over a period of time cannot. Not just tenths but over a full second. There's definitely something weird here. It might help to here from someone like Brian (bcl) who's had a T56 equipped T with megapower for a while to see what he gets down the qtr if he's ever tried. Regards, Max
  21. Hi Maxx. Couldnt have been me as I joined in May04 while youre Jan03. Ive been pretty quiet and only been a spectator as I dont own a T yet but that's about to change. This is gonna confuse people as I get more active so you'll have to leave or change your username.
  22. Wow guys. From the replies, it seems that most manual T owners dont know how to drive their cars down the quarter. Oh no, where's the emoticon for hiding behind the wall when you need it? This will have to do Seriously though, about a year ago in a rival forum, the autos also had it over the manuals down the quarter. Interesting enough, no manual could get into the 13s with just bolt-ons. This bothered a few members who then raised the issue in a thread. The thread turned into a challenge that was accepted by a very competent driver with numerous runs on the board, magazine write ups, etc. The end result was a back to back 12.5 and a one off 12.2 run. Before this, the fastest 1/4 in a manual with just bolt-ons was a 13.1 while a similar auto was 12.6. Needless to say, this changed a lot of peoples' perception of a manuals' potential down the qtr. Perhaps the same is now happening here and we need some gifted drivers to find out exactly what a manual T can and cant do down the qtr?
  23. Been putting off ordering my T till BAII (oops BA MkII) as the predictions were for improved gearboxes. Was expecting a 5 speed auto along with the 6 speed manual but 1 out of 2 aint bad (I lean towards manuals anyway). Was told long ago that the auto was the choice for faster 1/4 mile times. Looking at the quick list, this seems to be fairly true. I need some help with the below questions so I can decide on what to get; a) Assuming it'll be a stage II or III modded sedan, will the BA's T56 and shorter diff (3.73) be quicker down the 1/4 mile or will the auto still be quicker? b) Will changing the diff ratio from 3.73 to a shorter/longer ratio improve 1/4 mile times for a T56 equipped BA? c) With the possible exception of the clutch kit, its my understanding that the T56 will be able to handle stage II or III mods without needing any mods itself. Am I right? Cheers. Max
  24. Does anyone know the torque rating the new box will be able to handle? More importantly, will the new box be able to handle 300+rwkw power increases without needing pricey mods?
  25. Hi everyone. This is my 1st post here so please be gentle. After a history of HDTs and HSVs, I'm moving over to the dark side (or was I there but didn't know it?). I here that I am one of many that are changing camps and why shouldn't I with such an awesome product as the XR6 Turbo. So I’ve just sold my LS1 equipped VX Clubsport R8 and am in the planning stages of a new Falcon XR6T. What I know I want is that its gonna be a black sedan with (hopefully I can get red) leather interior and that it'll get the APS Phase 3 mods sooner than later. It'll be used to get me to and from work and for weekend spirited driving along with hopefully monthly WSID visits and perhaps even 1 or 2 track days a year. What I mainly need advise on is do I buy a manual or an auto? All my cars to date have been manuals. My thinking is that my last one was a 6 speed however Ford only offer a 5 speed and a vague shifting one at that. I wouldn't be too happy either, if the series 2 comes out later this year with a 6 speed. On the other hand, I've heard that the auto is quite a competent box though the down side will be less rear wheel power, less sporty feel, and that the misses will be able to drive it. I've also checked the redbook website resale prices and have found that the auto model is worth a grand less than a manual specced equivalent. Additionally, as I’m unfamiliar with the Ford product, what other options do I need that I really should get like premium brakes for example. Are the standard XR items that ineffective, given how I described I’ll be using the car above, that premium brakes are necessary? What about the sound system upgrade? I like my music clear and loud. I’ve actually got a couple of big power premium branded amps and subs still in boxes that I never got around to installing in the clubbie. Do I get the premium sound or should I upgrade the sound system myself? Is there anything else that I might not have considered? Who is the Ford dealer in Sydney to go to for the best deals? I know that options are a personal thing so I’m after your recommendations about what you consider to be important to have. My aim is to evaluate all information presented here to try and eliminate the 'I should of got...' as much as possible hence asking you guys and gals who are the subject matter experts. Cheers.
