  1. hrrmmm sounds very familiar with an old conversion I saw a few years back on an AU. Would idle normally, then if left to idle for 10 mins it would pour white smoke everywhere, after that it poured white smoke all the time. Turns out the oil drain going into the sump was done incorrectly and the turbo blew the seals hope it all works out for you mate
  2. why not have a picnic at the top of Lake Mountain? it will be a great bonding experience
  3. I have a manual, best thing ever, I come from a long line of autos and cant help but to fall asleep. I like to do a lot of twisty driving on weekends so you cant beat the manual for that, the fact that when you get in trouble and need to downshift and it happens instantly is a real help for me, waiting for the auto would surely send me off the edge of the cliff plus in traffic when a w*nker is riding my ass I like to do a compression lock up on him, give him a bit of a scare. The launch control is a gimmick mate, its not real launch control, I cant remember exactly what its called but it was explained to me that the car holds the rev there because of something to do with the turbo and the engine not being under load, correct me if im wrong fellas I tend to launch at around 2500rpm well under the "launch control", I get good grip, and a fantastic launch, well enough for a 1.98 60 ft I don't mind the box, everyone complains about the heavy rollover of the gears, but hey it needs to handle a lot of power and torgue, the cars not a suzuki swift. I was told I will never be as fast as an auto on the qtr mile yet I have a 12.89 with stock engine and street tyres sometimes its just nice to keep a legacy alive, by the time our kids come around they wont even know how to drive a manual... I have cousins who are just getting their licenses now and only have auto's, because their parents only have autos. I put my cousin in my car to take around the block on her L's and she couldnt even get out of the garage At the end of the day, its all personal preference, the auto guys will blast the manual guys and vise versa, good luck with your choice, either way your going to love it
  4. well I guess you could compare transflective to gps in an iphone, they say its GPS, everyone thinks its GPS yet it has never recieved a lat and long fix from a satellite in its life This unit like everything the company I work for sell have no gimmics, the brightness of the LCD panel is 1000cm/2 whereas a normal LCD is around the 250cm/2 mark. I know transflective sort of work in the sun, but when you have direct sunlight glaring directly onto the panel head on you get the same symptoms of a normal LCD, whereas this unit will operate as per normal and look just as good in direct head on sun light. Anyway I have this great piece of kit available and was just seeing if anybody was interested.
  5. No no, no crappy gimmics that work half assed, this is genuine sunlight readable, 1000cm/2 brightness
  6. ok so the unit pictured above is $1500 complete with Digital TV Tuner and built in 3G Module. There is a cheaper model that doesnt have the TV Tuner or OBD but still has the 3G Module and docking station, this unit is $950 pictured below http://www.ieimobile.com/ice-rock08ar.html
  7. yer pretty much, but has OBD hardware built in, is very rugged, comes with power supply for the car. the one thing most dont understand and manufacturers dont include... a full sunlight readable display
  8. Its not dedicated, its a full PC running XP or Win7 with full touch screen, I thought people might be interested because it has optional digital tv tuner, cradle etc. So a tuner can drive the car and log all the info and then take all the info back to the workshop as its a full battery operated tablet PC. I'll double check pricing tomorrow
  9. sometimes I think Ford say "Step right up and spin the wheel, what ever number you land on is what the part sells for" count yourself lucky the wheel didnt land on $1000
  10. Hey guys the company I work for have just released the below into australia, I was wondering if anybody is interested in one for media or maybe tuners are interested for portable diagnostics etc http://www.ieimobile.com/ikarpc08.html anyone interested just let me know, I can get them at close to cost
  11. kick your cousin in the nuts, fit the muffler and get the b*stard cooking
  12. cowboys
  13. Vic Roads and whoever Canberra have don't give a crap, apparently its perfectly acceptable to pay for the car, pay for the tyres and wheels, pay rego, pay insurance, and if you stuff up you have to pay, but when they stuff up and lay crap roads we still have to pay. remember when the outside lane on city link was closed because they did such a bad job steel was poking through the roads and chewing out cars tyres? I wonder if they got reimbursed???
  14. Jamie's car is at home thank god, I can see the drains outside slowly backing up, I reckon in about 15 mins water will start coming out of the drains and start flooding the roads... water coming OUT of the drains, what an oxymoron
  15. I always thought shakers should stay on the cars they were meant for, I had an XF ute with a 351 that had a shaker. But that was convenient, air went from the shaker, through the filter and straight into the carby all on top of the engine. a few things to beware of though, be careful as to who cuts the hole, if they dont finish properly the rust will look sh!t, the next is be careful of the water drain hole, make sure you keep it nice and flowing cause excess water in your intake or engine bay isnt a good thing its your choice though, please post pics when its done. lets hope nobody gets the idea of putting super roo stickers on their cars
  16. This is the best thread out I think. although not safe for work This site is full of car nuts, and horny geeks I think I'm still trying to go through this thread from the first post to the most recent... its taking forever! Anyway back to the pics
  17. that's a good turn out wow! I would assume its hard to keep that many cars together in a line, I bet plenty of stopping for other traffic etc. looking good Rudiger! the numbers are starting to pile up now lucky actually cause I thought "There's gonna be eff all people at this one because of that" phew all we need now is for the weather to hold out, I do believe Croydon (where I work) is about to see 50mm this afternoon alone! I better go and move the car to higher ground before the road floods and my car floats away
  18. For you to claim with Vic Roads your damage needs to exceed $1100 and you must report the pothole. be weary though as they will fix it on the sly and say your lying... it has happened before! so make sure you get pics of the pothole I hit a monster the other day with very similar circumstances, lucky for me the dents were only cosmetic so an hour with a rubber mallet straightened them out.
  19. that's a great pic gaz! how many did you guys get that day? I think the weather will be fine out that way, either way its still a nice route wet or dry
  20. Whoa Adam, did you manage to change your plans? Look forward to catching up mate
  21. thanks *Beep* I might head down this friday and check it out. funny thing is I'm 25 now, when I was around 15 I used to ride shotgun in my brothers cars and it was exactly the same back then, actually a little better cause the laws and the coppers weren't so strict on taking cars etc. I'm in a white FG manual, so if you see me say hi
  22. do you guys normally meet up first on a friday night? I was thinking about heading out this friday. these days I'm more on the organised cruises but used to be a big weekend cruiser in my older cars.
  23. Oh come on, I am insulted that you think I would say anything
  24. check out Etheridge Ford, I get everything done there, if they dont have it they are more than happy to help track it down for you!!!
