  1. yeah, I use around 80 bucks worth of fuel a week. I feel a bit better though when I think back to how much fuel I used when I had the . Put it this way, I still have receipts for $6000 of fuel a year... - AND that's was back in the days of 75 cents a litre!!!! Anth.
  2. Yeah I used a car bra on a drive from Sydney to Adelaide. Never again. It must have been moving around on the front of the car because it scratched the corners of the bumper pretty bad. I'm glad that I had the headlight protectors on- but that resulted in them getting scratched too. Hopefully the bumper scratches will buff out. Anthony.
  3. This was the one that I had before a F#CKING CAB ran into it. The F#CKER was asleep at the wheel and he drove straight into my car and 2 other parked cars too. And this is where all my money goes these days.... cheers, Anth.
  4. Hmm, If I put one on my T, will it sound like a Twin Turbo? A.
  5. another reason. I hate the ICC's grey background. It looks much better in black, as what happens with the lights on. A.
  6. My thoughts exactly Craig- I just didn't feel like typing that much. But anyway, there are signs that say "lights on in daytime for safety", and I reckon they look cool too. Anth.
  7. I say no more. <ebay link> Anth.
  8. Be careful bud. Esp if you want that internet access back. PS I don't see what would be wrong with the orange stitching. A. .
  9. moderators, I don't believe that this sort of material is appropriate on a family forum. PS. no, there is no truth to that Damo. Sorry to disappoint. But tell me, what does a pillow really taste like? A. .
  10. 1. the boss has taken your priveleges away because you don't do anything else at work. 2. the 3rd reason that the XR8 has to go is that you can't drive the thing. It uses petrol because you drive around iwith the handbrake on. 3. blueprint to sillouette: bad to worse! Okay, the truth is that you tried to get Phantom but they don't do it anymore. Fair enough. 4. Your boss reads this. Anth. .
  11. NO! I reckon they should not bring back the GTHO. Not just yet anyway. Can you imagine FPV building a 350kw GTHO, only to have Clubsports with similar outputs within a few months? The original GTHOs were unbeatable for 20 years. A new one would need to be that too. Anthony .
  12. if it's looks then the GT-P wins easy. It's the wheels and stripe package that do it. Anth .
  13. ... that's exactly what I was thinking..... .
  14. I don't think it is any secret that new falcons and commodores have crap build quality when compared to japanese cars like the liberty. A mate has an 04 Liberty GT and about the only thing that the Falcon has over it on the interior is the Premium ICC. Everything else in the Liberty simply oozes quality. Start them up and take them for a drive and things are put into perspective. The Turbo transforms the Falcon into a Performance Car, whereas the Liberty Turbo is now able to keep up with traffic. You get what you pay for either way. A. .
  15. you spelt bulletin wrong dude..... A.
  16. In my opinion G-techs are far more consistent than dynos in their power readings. Dynos (as we are all aware) have great variances between each other and need to be recalibrated to maintain accuracy. There are also too many variables that need to be monitored in order to compare different dyno's readings. G-techs work by measuring acceleration and time and they use those to calculate torque and power at the wheels. It is all mathematics. You can calculate the average net power developed at the wheels of any car with a quarter-mile timeslip printout. Is it an accurate figure? It is exact. The problem is that it includes power-sapping losses due to wind resistance, lack of traction, driveline friction, temperature, humidity, and driver ability. For that reason it is not the exact power that the car PRODUCES (the GROSS power output). Your car's engine may be capable of producing 500 horses and it may be capable of running a 12 second quarter- but if you do the run at half throttle and it takes you 20 seconds- will a G-tech still show 500 hp? Of course not. The same applies to a dyno. Dynos have that one extra variable- that is that they need to be correctly calibrated.
  17. I like it. But I especially like the look of the GT-P with those rims... Anthony. .

I wouldn't mind one- what details do you need? A.
  19. ... for a sec I thought that this thread was titled "Another time waster, GERMAN BEERS" My eyes must be playing tricks on me. But that happens when you are looking forward to a big OKTOBERFEST weekend. A. .
  20. -ouch, how's that for a first post.... .

    Torque vs KW

Yes, torque is a measure of rotational force. The metric unit is Newton-Metres. To give you an understanding of what that means, imagine an engine producing 300Nm of torque at a set rpm. If the flywheel had a radius of 1 metre, then the force that is produced at the rim of the flywheel is 300 newtons- (ie 300N*1m=300Nm). Power is the product of force and velocity. In rotational physics (ie engines) it is the product of torque (rotational force) and rpm (rotational velocity). Power is never directly measured by a dyno. A dyno actually measures the torque being applied to the rollers, and CALCULATES the power by multiplying that figure by the corresponding rpm. In short, torque and rpm is what is measured. Power is a function of both. Some engines can have mountains of torque but little power simply because they do not rev hard. Examples include diesels and long-stroke petrol engines. High-revving motorcyle engines and car engines like that found in the Honda S2000 have quite a lot of power but not a great deal of torque. Performance-wise you will find that an engine with a good torque figure is needed to get a heavy vehicle going. They are also easier to drive because they don't have a powerband that is high in the rev range, and don't always need to be in the correct gear to get reasonable performance. No doubt others will add to this. Cheers, Anthony .
  22. I reckon they MIGHT look okay on a white car- but they wouldn't look right on any other colour. Having said that, if I actually had to PAY for them, I wouldn't bother putting them on a white one either..... .
  23. I know it has been discussed before but I would be interested to hear how a similarly modded manual would perform. And how it was driven (eg flat-change, etc). .

  25. Well what it means is that you will need to use the factory aux input, yes. The adapter is $28 from Ford spare parts- or you can make one for much less by following THESE instructions by Aaron. But by the sounds of things it seems like you are already using your AUX input for an I-Pod, correct? If so, you can simply use double adapters to allow both the I-Pod and the DVD player to use the AUX socket. I believe that the 5502 is a newer version of the 5501. I have also been told that the smaller 1- and 3- port 1102 and 3302 will also work - and should be cheaper - but I have not used these. I use the 5501 and it works fine. .
