  1. Dealers are selling pre-Oct build XR6T utes brand new for 37-38k. No way he got that price, not in the current environment from a dealer.
  2. Try selling private. It's more of a pain but well worth it, you'll get 5k-7k more for it and won't need to deal with the pond scum(dealers).
  3. Lets not forget that regular unleaded is fine for the i6T. Ford do all of its testing using regular, I know as my Father has recently retired from performance/emissions engineering department at Ford and as been involved in all the XR6Ts up to FG. Some get on here and say its "horse piss" etc.. not true. Performance gain is hardly noticeable, economy can be improved with premium on highway especially. If you can afford 98, get it. If you can't don't think your engine wear or performance is going to change at all, not that's noticeable anyway. There is this myth about premium fuel that its better for your engine... rubbish. 98 is the same fuel!! just with additives. Your more likely to differentiate your engines performance yourself on cold/hot days than with regular compared to premium fuel. Bravo to Ford for producing a world class engine that doesn't require premium fuel. Many cars these days do(especially Euro), meaning the economy stats they boast about aren't as good as you think in real $$ terms.
  4. How about insurance. You P platers who have said you've drive XR6Ts couldn't possibly of had insurance because of the cost, if you did it probably wasn't valid anyway. It's alarming how many young performance car enthusiasts have insurance, which is invalid or simply no insurance at all. Really a dumb move. Having an accident with an expensive car will see you in debt for the best part of your life.... thinking required with head not ego. Plenty of time to have fast cars when your older and wiser without learning the hard way how stupid and expensive poor decision making can be.
  5. There are plenty of deals around as good, if not better than this. Tell me why you would bother with a ex-police car? Any car that has 10 or more drivers in its short life is not good for a start. Cops flog them. I know, I have a mate who is a cop in Canberra. They all draw straws for the SS/XR6Ts. Steer clear my friend.
  6. In Geelong(Ford town), salesman actually have a habit of asking straight up. I guess this is due to the volume of staff sales. Like I said, they want staff sales. 9 times out of 10 a dealer makes 100% out of a staff sale, typically people receiving staff discount don't work dealers down because of the heavy discount.. YOU CAN!
  7. This law on GPS phones must stand, purely for the fact that all those young females I see typing txt messages while driving will use the excuse "No, I was using my GPS" when seen by Police. Dam it, if you don't know where your going, pull over a read a frickin map.
  8. Bottom line, most people who modify their cars do not tell their insurance company. Really it depends on what your modifying. I'm with RACV who will let me add an exhaust only before hitting me for more $$. If your adding injectors with a tune(internal mods), your probably ok. Anyone who does exhausts, intercoolers etc without informing their insurance company is well... asking for trouble. In the event of an accident don't think the assesser doesn't know what he's looking at... HE DOES! I've known of people who have come unstuck. So... if you break your agreement(which clearly asks if you've done modifications), your insurance is void. So you may as well not have it I guess. Pretty simple.
  9. I agree with your point. One current issue I have with MOTOR is this: XR6T / 0-100 - 5.2 SS / 0-100 - 5.2 FPV F6 / 0-100 - 5.1 HSV R8 / 0-100 - 5.1 These figures are crucial for sales, there is no doubt that the XR6T and F6 are quicker than their respective Expensive Daewoo opponents. Every other review(incl. video) I've seen puts the Ford in front, 0-100. Whether they want to play it safe by referencing both the fastest Ford/FPV & Holden/HSV the same, or its just coincidence I don't know. Seems geared to favour Holden's slower hero models though, promoting more of a contest between the brands.
  10. Only a fanboy with too much money would even take a second look... What are they thinking?
  11. Just supports my opinion that the SS 0-100 times have always been inflated by 'certain' magazines. They aren't that quick, not in FG XR6T territory.
  12. G6ET with the FG GT 19s... Perfect.
  13. Some are honest? Perhaps. They still have apprentices doing the work while some douche bag in a shirt/tie barks the orders out. Give me a local, trusted mechanic where the employees respect each other... not one (like a dealer), which has an 'us vs them' mentality and the brand name 'Ford' to pull their business from unsuspecting car owners. This quote is appalling. I genuinely feel sorry for people who are not aware of the dealer servicing mistake. Hell, it's almost common knowledge. In pop culture it's the brunt of so many jokes, yet people continue to use them. Don't get it.
  14. It's easy, especially if you aren't the Ford employee but entitled. If they ask you if your entitled to staff discount straight up(likely), say NO. Bargain away. Then come back in playing dumb by saying you weren't actually aware of the discount till now. That's it. If they give you grief about the price, don't take it. The dealer is reimbursed for the total staff discount portion so to them it is no different anyway!! This is why they love selling to staff... they seriously make more from staff sales than your average Joe off the street. Just be hard nosed with them. Falcons are not selling well at the moment(nothing is), so you're in the box seat.
  15. lol
  16. Either a drug reliant scum bag or some jealous moron. Either way you can be sure that their existence is pathetic and worth nothing. So unfortunate that good people have to cop the brunt of societies rubbish... all the best with the repair mate.
  17. I never slagged you off, just pointed out some questionable statements in your post. If your happy with the Bogan special then that's cool. Many don't like the FG ute styling and live rear-end, although the T is faster... not just 0-100 but rolling acceleration with all that torque below 2000rpm. Much better car than the BA you had previously... although the sedan is for handling purists(Falcon). You'd be struggling to win an argument between the Bogan special v xr6t atm, engine wise. I don't care for the Expensive Daewoo utes. They look anorexic from the front or back, angle too high from front to back and the maloo is just plain comical in styling and usability.
  18. A note for any members able to get Ford staff discount. DO NOT let the salesman become aware you are entitled to it until you've bargained your price down. Why? The dealer gets the discount amount refunded by the factory. They have an edge on you from the start if your price is down to the staff rate. They'll play on it saying "your already getting it for xx much"... blah, blah. It is actually advantages for dealers to sell cars at staff rates... customers tend to bargain less, dealers get almost full profits on many as the discount is good(22% for Falcon/Territory), as people don't bargain it down. Bargain first, hit them with the staff discount 2nd.... watch the idiots squirm.
  19. How many times do you hear this type of claim? Even though car testers spend hours pretty much breaking gear boxes to get those times. Even if the Bogan special ute got mid 5sec 0-100(at absolute best), its hardly "much quicker". Sure if his is such a "safe" argument, there is some type of proof?
  20. Were these(non-staff) prices you guys are quoting, existing builds/Demos/On the lot? Or were they ordered fresh? Surely not at that price(42k).
  21. I priced one the other day. Staff can get a manual for 36k, auto for 37.5k drive away. Pre August build.
  22. The F6 will give you more street cred, that's about it. FG is faster, better handling, better on fuel etc, etc. To me BA/BF are starting to look a little old(ish).
  23. Alcohol or drug use is a HUGE contributing factor along with speed for accidents/deaths on the road. Personally I can't believe that drunk drivers don't have their cars confiscated on the spot, first offense. They are the biggest problem if you ask me, along with 'P' plate drivers' attitude. Blame all the idiot 'P' platers out there who drive like complete morons. Minority perhaps, but there are heroes everywhere... or so they think.
  24. Found this an interesting read... Both XR8 and XR6T(no surprise) quicker than Bogan special . Ford need to get the IRS into the ute. At least the XRs. http://www.carpoint.com.au/reviews/2009/co...us-holden-16128
  25. I'm a fan of white in the FG, great looking car! Window tint will finish it off. If your replacing the wheels, go the FG GT 19s.
