  1. I got a call back form the service manager about 10 mins later - he blamed the service rep, said it was an accident and could I bring the car in the next day. They fitted DBA 4000 series rotors. The manager kept blaming the strangely absent service rep, but I'm pretty sure he was involved. Coffin=nailed.
  2. emailed this today and got a call back within 10 mins, cars booked in tomorrow to get some slotted discs fitted: "We have a serious problem here you need to rectify. On the 8th September you did a number of tasks to my car, including replacing the rear discs and pads. After mis-quoting me on the cost of the discs and trying to charge me an additional $300 for the work, we agreed that you would swap out the over-priced “Ford Genuine” discs and replace them with the Premium discs that I would have gotten at Pedders. After you did the work I noticed the discs weren’t grooved and called you to question whether they were Premium discs or not, to which I was told they definitely were. Yesterday I had a mechanic examine why the car is making a grinding noise from the rear, and was told that the discs fitted to the car are not just non-premium, but are in fact too small even for the standard pads fitted to the XR6. The discs only cover about 2/3 of the pad. The only reason I can think of for this is that you took off the XR6 discs originally fitted and replaced them with base model Ford pads. To me, this is shockingly bad and downright dangerous. Not only have you lied to my face on the quality of the parts you used, you’ve put parts in that aren’t even the right size. I expect an immediate answer on what you’re going to do to rectify this. The next step for me is to go direct to MVRIA."
  3. So here begins Part II of this saga. I just had some work done by a Pedders guy today - he asked me if I'd had the disks replaced recently. He took the wheel off to show me why he asked: the disks that Fprd put on were not the superior XR6 ones at all, in fact they weren't even XR ones. In fact, they were so small they only covered half of the pad! I can't decide if I'm going to write, call or just camp outside their office with a sign saying "Fraud Service: They'll bend you over and charge you for the priviledge"
  4. Right - picked up the car this morning. They told me on Friday they would put the premium brakes on "the same as I would get from Ultratune, just non-genuine Ford parts" and only charge me $590 instead of $980. When I got home I've had a look at the rear discs and they're smooth. I've phoned them and queried whether the premium discs should be grooved and was told no, they're just a bigger diameter and have ventilation. My front discs have grooves. Is this true or did they just lie to my face?
  5. I don;t have a problem naming them as long as the mods are cool with it. Mods?
  6. I just hope enough people read this thread (and others like it) and choose not to go to Ford for servicing. Maybe if their reputation gets bad enough they'll change their ways, but I won't be holding my breath
  7. Bit of a grey area. The service rep told me the brakes would be about $500, which I said ok to. He said "Oh, I'll just throw the premium ones on there" which I took to mean he'd chuck them in as a freebie as he never mentioned an uplift in cost. He also told me the trans fluid would be $50/bottle but didn't mention that's a 1 litre bottle and they'd be using 8 of the f*ckers. The rest of the items on the invoice are just massively overpriced. Good thing I didn't go with their recommendations for new tyres ($350 a shot), new battery ($250) and replace the rear bushes ($900). You wouldn't know I had the car serviced 10,000k's ago would you?
  8. So I sat in the office for an hour and wouldn't leave until we reached a compromise. They gave me trade prices on the parts (which reduced the bill by $200) and agreed to take off the ford genuine brakes and replace them with slotted DBA's. This is only after I told them to take them off and put my old ones back on. All up reduced the bill by about $600. Service rep and manager both agreed that the price of the trans lube is ridiculous at $50/litre but wouldn't charge a more reasonable figure, just kept sayng "this is what Ford charge us". It's pretty f*cked up that top quality Pennzoil is $10/litre. All up, lesson learned: Don't go to Ford.
  9. So the total capacity of the trans should only be 4.7L? If so I'll def be disputing this one. Also, just spoke to Ultratune: To get new rear discs and pads (genuine discs and Bendix pads, fitted): $480 Full trans service (inc labour and fluid): $185
  10. The cars all mine (lucky me). The irony is I only took it to Ford to try to get the recurring engine light problem fixed as I figured they had the best diagnostic equipment. Of course, this is the only thing they haven't been able to fix.
  11. Haven't paid yet, I'm supposed to go pick it up in an hour
  12. since yesterday morning, so a total of about 11 business hours
  13. I could photoshop that up if you like, with a pic of me slamming the ford reps head in my door
  14. here ya go.. had to cut it into 4 parts and the fax wasn't the clearest
