  1. There were some negative experiences with the new calibrations and re-flashes late in 2004. However, the latest update has made a big difference to the quality of my auto shift patterns and it also seems to have more urge. However, I never had an overboost or stalling problem.
  2. Just had my diff replaced for the 2nd time - came out with a much reduced whine (but keeping an ear on it!) but also picked up a vibration which hasn't yet been resolved despite having gone back for a balance check - bl**dy fustrating. However, whilst it was in I got a loan of a Typhoon. I was expecting a very agricultural drive-line (my T is an auto) but it was excellent! - No whine, no clunks and felt very, very good. This did restore my faith in Ford or at least until I noticed my new vibration :rokon:
  3. I presume this is just for the snorkel? Can the bottom part of the typhoon airbox be ordered as well, so that you don't have to cut the original one?
  4. Is this the same box that capa and the others use but with their own tune? My dealer can sell them so I am interested in getting one from them and "losing" some of the cost amongst a routine service. However, how do their standard maps (8 and 10 psi?) perfom ? (would probably only use the 8psi map without auto mods). Their leaflet says that you can "select 1 of 3 performance program settings to replace your standard factory setting". what is the 3rd map? - No info on their web-site and no mention of boost pressures. Can they be live tuned at a latter date by others? thanks
  5. Yes, and it only gets worse from here with point to point systems coming in, combined fixed red light and speed cameras (waiting for the first major accident and law suite) and other improved technology coming in.
  6. At a recent dyno day the MkII's were consistently giving higher numbers (10-20rwkw) in both the autos and manuals than the equivalent MKI's - although there were a couple of exceptional stock Mk1's. Regarding the recent motor magazine tests and the slower qtr mile times, doesnt the MKII manual have a different g/box and diff ratio? Which is probably also affecting the straight typhoon times.
  7. This is what I was also told some time back (it's Dana not Hardy Spicer though). However, with reports of MK 2's having similar problems I won't be holding my breath just yet!
  8. bs888, How do the LH pipes fit. Does the rear bumber have to be modified and then resprayed?
  9. Where can you find out about their exhaust products - can't find a web-site?
  10. For those who have fitted the Quad exhaust outlet system (ie herrod) what do you think of them? Sound, performance on a stock T and cost etc. Do they need any significant re-engineering of the underneath of the car and what happens to the rear bumber valance to accomadate the second set of pipes? I saw some passing references to towbars being removed - does this mean they cannot be installed with any towbar fitted?
  11. are you sure it didnt just feel stronger because they disconnected the battery and then afterwards the apprentice took it for a thrash around the block to within an inch of it's life on a "test drive", which then reset your pcm parameters?
  12. what did aami say about the aps phase two kit??? thought they only allowed 3 mods?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> surely you would just list it as the APS phase 2 kit - that's only one mod as far as they are concerned and you havent told any porkies. I had a general chat with AAMI who I have been insured with for a number of years and as long as the mods were listed it didnt give them any great concerns. Also from memory, I think they may have recently removed the 3 mods limit anyway (might depend on age).
  13. I was told at my 45K service that there was the quick way to adjust the handbrake and mine had this. However, next time it would need a more involved (and therefore expensive!) adjustment. Perhaps this is what you had done?
  14. Three questions that I havent yet seen the answers to:- 1) what are the claimed rwkw and therfore engine KW for the 8psi and 10 psi maps on a standard T with no custome tune? 2) can you still safely use the lower 2 fuel grades, being unleaded (91 Ron) and premium (95 Ron) with the 8psi edit? 3) how long does it actually take to swap between the different maps, including back to standard?

    Brake Upgrade

Does anyone know where you can get the QFM RB74 comp pads from in Vic and what sort of price should we be paying - asked at a couple of places but they always seem to try and get you to go for something else or their "own" QFM formula!

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Have they replaced the Shims ?? This was the supposed fix for pre Oct 03 Ts . Memory might be a bit out though  Buggered if I am going to troll this thread for the exact answer. Also are you still running the std pads ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From the original query it sounds like you are using the original spec pads and this is probably the issue as they cause a build up of gases at the pad/rotor interface which then results in hard black deposit on the disc rotor which feels like a warped disc but actually it isnt. I have just had the brakes done for the 4th time at 42K, all post shims and this last time was a disc & pad replacement. Labour and discs were warranty but the pads were $180 (which I was told was at cost?) and I had to have the original ford specn pads fitted otherwise by the dealer oterwise they didnt want to know and no more warranty cover, so I will be waiting for it's return.
  17. I had been experiencing a strange resonant noise from the tyres for about 3 months and whilst with the dealer for a new radiator back in October they said it was caused by the aggressive tread pattern and normal tyre wear. However, after having a new diff fitted the other week and being left with a severe vibration (after promises that I wouldnt... but that's another story) I went to get the tyres balanced to at least eliminate them from the vibration problem - I couldnt believe what the tyre shop showed me on the inside tyre walls and was very dissapointed that the Ford Dealer hadnt found the splits and delaminations, as at the time of the radiator replacement I was about to set off on a 3000Km trip with my young family . Anyhow, I had to get the tyres put back on to take to a Ford Tyre dealer at a later time (hassle, hassle, hassle). In the end I got 3 tyres replaced FoC, (the only one that was OK was one that I had to replace due to a puncture about 3 months after getting the T) with 42Kkm on them - still pretty good tread. In the end a pretty good outcome. You will need to find a Ford dealer that is also a Dunlop tyre dealer to avoid being messed around with by pro-rata warranty (Oh and I also got new rotors for the 4th brake shudder) No noises or brake shudders for now - feels good.... but looks like I'm going to have to put up with the diff vibration over christmas (they didnt balance it!)

    T Problems

I did vote as I have had problems and do still have warranty problems. However, I think it is unfair and biased to have a poll that doesnt allow owners with Zero problems to vote!

    Stock Stereos

The Std system is far superior in my view to the std systems in earlier models which were truly awful. I tried it out out the dealer with my own CDs before purchasing as I didnt want to go too far backwards from the sound in my Mits Verada and I was pleasantly suprised. I also tried it against a premium system which was better but not $950 worth in my view, unless you really do want try and deafen yourself Sure, it wouldnt meet the needs of a true audiophile or someone that spends thier evenings annoying others by hoping you can hear their music tastes from three blocks away!
  20. handbook says 15W-40. I havent found a fully synthetic where the 1st 2 numbers are correct but dont know how important this actually is - anyone know, as most fully synthetics have very low numbers or even zero at the front?
  21. "My MK2 won't be finished until Feb 05!!! Possibly my wife demanding Vibe". Had to read that bit twice! For those who have had the phase 1 or other, with bigger injectors fitted do you find the lack of accurate km range and fuel consumption displays to be a problem or pain - I drive on the "range to empty" (even though this is conservative) and find it very useful with only having a 68L tank.
  22. Well if this is the case the Doc is still being fed BS by FPV - because Ford destroy all prototypes and they DO NOT go to any public auction .. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that's not strictly true - they only have to destroy the prototypes that do not meet ADR's. The issue is not with Hypnodocs vehicle but in a few years time when P013 is in the second hand car market and gets inadvertantly (or deliberately) advertised as build No. 13, when in an actual fact it's not (it's an earlier build that might not be 100% to the released build standard (ie hidden trim bits, fastners etc) but does comply with the ADRs).
  23. I would have thought that FMC would be closely looking at this after the debacle with the firestone tyres on Explorers in the US.
