Number Plates
I got the once off price (XX 0000) I wanted XR 240, NSW plate but someone beat me to it. Then a few days ago I looked at the pictures of the demo Turbo's the site sponsor City Ford had - a Mercury Silver Turbo with the plates XR 240!!!! This is the first time I have bothered with any form of personalised plate.

User Names
About four years ago I joined another forum, when it said enter user name I just put in the name of my favourite racer from the sixties, seventies and eighties. I put all of two nanoseconds thought into it and have used it ever since.

XR6 Turbo Insurance: Premiums, Insurers & Advice
I've sort of dredged this one back from the depths. The reason being I just went to the AAMI site to get a current quote for a Turbo XR6, and guess what. After filling in all the details, it was refused and sent to another company on the grounds of modifications. What, leather, CD, sunroof and towbar? In the first week of December I was able to get a quote on the same vehicle. Now??

Running In
It makes sense... My salesman said, drive it like you hate it. I have seen people run in bikes this way and they usually end up with quick machines. Don't know how long they last though. I think a variation on harasn's schedule would be the go. Get out there and spend the day doing the variable load and revs thing on a country road. Sounds like fun. It was in August last when I ran in a Ducati. Then for the first 200 klms I didn't rev over 5 grand. The next 400 not over seven, then for the next 600 not over nine (no point really it ends power wise at nine). But I would go west, and rev it as often as I could just nudging the rev limit I was up to kilometre wise for a second then coasting back to the speed limit to have another go when the opportunity presented itself. The early stuff was done in the lower gears, 2nd, 3rd and 4rth out of 6.

Ba Xr6t V Boss 260
I agree with Race Rubber - very low boost turbo, intercooled and bolted to a large capacity motor. Not very stressed to my way of thinking.

Plenty Of Km's Over The Last Week.
What was the reaction from the street machiners to the turbo 6?

Love The Reception!
Well I went for a drive and am very impressed. Manual Turbo - tasted as an appetiser. Impressions, handles really neutrally, flat but very controlled and absorbent of irregularities in the road. Loved the seats and the seating position. Thought the pick up was both very impressive for being smooth and powerful. But no animal gruntiness just turbine like power that builds and builds. Looked a treat in Mercury Silver. So there you have it - and if you want one it is for sale at Mike Blewitt Ford Coffs Harbour, options = Premium Sound.

Love The Reception!
This afternoon I get to have a drive, not my car, some other lucky buggers. Finally get to see if the wait is worth it.

Thanks for the link Dave.

Dumb Question About Psi
Thanks mate. Just the answer I was hoping for. Most of the time, I'll be using it for over-taking from 80 klms up. I didn't think I'd need the V8 for that. As you can tell - I have ordered the turbo without driving it!
-
Dumb Question About Psi
I thought you explained it pretty well actually! So Mondie, do you miss the low down grunt of the V8?

Spray It Again Sam...
In a perverse sort of way it is fun. A lot of work though between the actuall fun of using the gun. I must admit - I like that bit.

Just Ordered My Xr6t Today!
Hi Frosty, Starting with the wheels. The diametre of the overall tyres and wheels doesn't change between the 16,17 and 18 inch rims. What changes, is as the diameter of the rim increases - the size of the side wall on the tyre decreases accordingly. Hence the lower the profile of the tyre the larger the wheel rim diameter. So, in the trade, plus 1 is one inch larger rim/lower profile tyre. Plus two is two inch larger rim/lower profile tyre. Plus two means rubber bands or strips of liccorice for the tyre. On the sun roof. Depends if you trust the warrenty of the local guys. I want a Fords warrentied job so will wait longer.

Day Trip 11th Jan
As I have a brother in the area if my car was here I would love to go. It is one of kids Birthdays however and we are going North to Sea World. Have a good day though - and if enough people enjoy it can we do it again say in May?

Spray It Again Sam...
I don't know Mondie. He is two months off 18 - I'm 41. We have different tastes in these things. So I hold my tongue! I'm a bit the opposite - he is into spraying and modifying but not cleaning. He must see the car as an extension of his bedroom! This is the second car in 18 months we have attacked. The first was a old RWD Mazda 626 that was 'rescued' from the wreckers for $400. It was sprayed a poor mans version of Blood Orange. Neither of us have any trade experience. We just learn from our many mistakes and ask a lot of questions of people who should know more than us.
