  1. I pose this question - Is the 0 400m time as quoted by mags (and they live for it) outaded as test of the core performance of the car? Does it influence your purchase to the point of exclusion of certain model? If it does then why? I will give you an example. When the T was first released there was great fanfare. Until the Motor guys tested against the SS. Then they found a small margin to the SS in 0-400m time. They then went on to say that mid gear acceleration left the SS totally behind. I know as I tested mine against my Brother in laws SS. It left him for dead. After all not all of us are trying to launch ourselves into jail but drive our cars based upon mid gear perfromance driving around town. So I pose the question. Does the 0-400m time really matter?. If it does why? Please dont hijact this with stuff about drag times etc. Its got nothing to do with race tracks or drag events. I am talking stock road cars here. On the road, not about mods or anything else.
  2. We all buy our cars for that 0-400m time! Last time I checked it was imposible legally to even try this on the road! Terminal speed is illegal. I for one one want to see the 0 - 400m abolished as it has no place in real world driving. How about we design an new benchmark that more accurately reflects the performance of the vehicle? I have started a new thread...........
  3. JB your da man..................... My neigbour saved and saved for a GT, he allways wanted one. He even rang me on the way to pcik it up. He was soo dammed excited. whwn he picked it it up. No spare key Dash didtnt work correctly. no FPV leather manual as promised empty of fuel All 4 tyres all with different pressures He was given the keys and told "oh you traded in a Falcon,I don't need to tell you about the car" and sent him off into the trafiic, at which point the dash stopped completely and the car went into limp mode - He has to walk back to the dealer..... Now that's what I am talkin about..................! We both recently had a chance to meet with David Flint of FPV at a function. He promptly told him all of this. David doesn't remeodrer I as he was so pissed on Red wine....just ehat you do as MD at the release of your new flagship model....... It was great launch of the new GT, invited guests and no GT - P! See the trouble is that even died in the wool Ford lovers have ther loyalty tested regulary - this Forum proves that when many of the threads are about problems and not great experiences. Its not that hard for them to get their act together. Other car makers have and also release why. And I quote Flint ( in his pissed state) "We know our service is sh*t....But we can't change the dealers and the way they think" I told him that he might need to rethink that one.....or sell their cars themselves and not through Ford dealers. IMHO when someone buys an FPV product they feel as thought they have "made it". They certainly dont feel like that when they leave the stealership. And that's moy whole point. They should. Youy woiuld not see the defections to other brands we have seen around here , including me. Lexus did that for one reason alone - to avoid the Toyota syndrome..
  4. My only problem with buying 4 f6s for the price of an M5 is why? You can only drive one at once last time I looked. You can buy three Excels for the cost of an F6....Now theres an offer. All I am saying is value is subjective. When the new M5 is 150k cheaper and seconds faster than a 430 Ferriari then its good value isn it? After all that's the market , not the F6. Its great the F6 is a fast car. And its great value but the guy who can really afford an M5 isnt really looking at a F6. He's looking at a Merc E55 or a RS4 Audi. that's what he is comparing it to. Ask the BMW salesman what he has to compete with when he is selling an M5 to osmeone. Fords name doesn't coime up, nor Holden. I asked my guy (who has sold BMW for 11 years, how he deals with "well ZYZ is better value?. He said he goes on the companies track record and after sales serivce and offers testimonials and offers extended drives. Lets please give up on its "Crap value because I can buy 4 F6's..." you can apply that one to any purchase let alone an M5.
  5. I wan't to thank the members who have now changed my opinoin on the M5. I didnt now they were boring and were bad value. At the first opportuniity I am going to get out of the M5 and get into a Typhoon. Thanks guys.
  6. I agree with Mondie and the other Dal. If you have had to spend 10k on your suspension then that's fine. Hope its better. So you have an F6 that will "crap on it" well it might be an intersting challenge....! What tyres do you have on tihs road burner?

We did a roll out of 40 Dlink ADSL wireless modem/routers. 28 of them have failed in the first 6 months. We replaced them with linksys, no futher falures.
  8. Thanks for that Vik, I expected much more...........
  9. The photo is an M5 that has been off the road....its a very safe car. Zap - I am glad you feel the F6 is better value. Its not hard setting it up for a serious launch. And BTW you don't have to let it cool down unless you have done 25 lauches in a row. BTW an M5 driver isn't really interested in the traffic light derby. To this day I have never dragged anyone from the lights. I am just not interested. If I wanted to do that, I would buy something else. If the issue is cost then your better off with the Falcon. The tyres are the price they are because they are good and offer a grip level very close to a competition tyre. Quote Ford Australia engineers had unlimited access to one of the most potent computer resources in the world. "Our designers have dedicated access to some of the 20-plus supercomputers at Ford's Dearborn headquarters, which means we can crunch our safety data on Ford's Michigan supercomputers overnight. If you tried to run one of our crash models on your average home computer you would need to wait 236 years for the answer," Mr Priddle said. Just a shame they didn't use any of it to make sure the brakes didnt shudder or have any driveline snatch or reliabliity issues. If they did I would still have one and so would many others who have left the board over the last two years. After all they own Aston and a chunk of Mazda - you would thing they would all have lunch one day and share a few ideas......... Look most car makers have access to the best gear. At the price of the Falcon you just not going to get it used that's all. uo may not see a 180k difference and that's OK - This is usually the view of thise that cannot afford them. andf that's not critisism BTW. Its just that we form our views generally around aour wallet. And BTW when you take in your BMW for a service they don't say "that's normal mate they all do that" they say, sir your drive car is in bay 16.....now that is worth 180k to me anyday................without asking! Cheers Dallas
  10. The F6 is a formitable car. Its by far the best Ford offering at the moment. Its a natural choice for a great perfomance sedan. To compare it to a new M5 I think is a bit pojtless and I will tell you why. The cars are designed for 2 different markets. The performance of the M5 is in a different league alltogether. Its at the top end of the Euro luxury list and the Ford is close to the top end of the performance stable from Ford. The guy looking at an F6 isnt shoppping for an M5 as an alternative. If he selects either one then hae has made a huge decsion. not a simple comparison. They are so diifferent on price that the deciosn to buy eirther is massive. The ownership expreience with the 2 cars is completely different. We can all get on the bandwagon and say its a better car for a quarter of the price. that's the easy way out. But it soemply isn't. Yuo will not know the difference until you own one. One is going to cost you 1K a month for a lease and the other one 4k per month. That puts the ownership thing into total perspective. As far as the dirving of them goes there is no real contest. One is going to be almost all tax deductable for business and one isn't. If you drove one over a 50 k stretch of winding road and the other one , the BMW will be there several munies before - and the F6 is a fast car! The performance envoelope is good on the F6 and it represents great value but its isn't in the same league as trhe M5 and that's the real difference. Yes you can get 400 RWKW out an F6. But it still wont catch the BMW. The power isn't the issue. You can get 400 RWKW out of a 1985 skyline for 20K as well and its a third of the price of an F6, so does that make it better again?. I have attached a photo of an M5 that crashed at 215KPH. Please note both occupants lived and theres your 180K differnece. I have an M5. I have had an XR6T. Both are rated as my favourite cars. I recently 3 days in the new M5. Its at least 20% better than my car is and my M5 is minutes faster than any T or FPV car or HSV over any roads. dotn assume for 1 minute that th epwer is the issue - its the total package that make for a fast car. not just the engine. They are both great cars and the F6 IMO is better than the GT but each has its place in the market. For those who thing you can just spend some money on the F6 and "hose" an M5 - your'e living in fantasy land. Buy the F6 and aspire to own an M5. Once you have an M5 it will all come very clear. Cheers Dallas

    I like it....
  13. Apparently it was! I am not sure it was the right thing for 888 to be doing - a road car isnt realy equiped for hot laps at QR.
  14. I was one of fortunate few to invited to the SBR drive day last Thursday at QR. We got to meet James Courtney and Russell along along with W Luff. They had three cars taking people for rides. We got to spend so time with the guys and talk cars, computers etc. What a day. Thanks to Coretech for the day. Dallas BTW Lowndes crashed the 888 show car down the back straight - he rolled it over the tyre barrier. With a passenger! - now that's a ride!
  15. I thought he was top bloke despite most of his products not working. You could not help but like him....

If you saw a car atthe showroom without dead pixels then its right to assume that's what your entitled to. Press the pojt and you may get some satisfaction. I dotjn recall the warrantly excluding it. The car is warranted to be feee from defects for the warranty periodregardless of how small the defect is. Be picky. In a car a dead pixel at night could distract you and you could fly off the road......

Did anyone cry for the people killed on our roads yesterday? Did anyone cry for the people who died in hospital yesterday? Did anyone cry for the old ones who passed away in old peoples homes yesterday? Did anyone cry for the guys killed fishing off the QLD coast yesterday? Did anyone cry for ther man killed in the storm in Canberra yesterday? Did anyone cry for Rchard Burns former WRC World rally champion? Did anyone cry for the treckies killed in the head on on the HWY yesterday Where was their 1 minute of silence? GUESS WHAT - NONE OF THEM WERE SMART ARSE DRUG SMUGGLERS. The real question that we should be asking is why did Singapore wait 3 years to hang him? We do get our priorities wrong somedays. The bleeding hearts on the TV yesterday, blubbering like they had lost their own were unbelievable - Anyway they can go back to blubbering about land rights for lesbian whales now! God only help us when we have a real disaster on our hands. They won't be able to keep up! ahhh..... that feels much better , Get me a beer its hot!
  19. This is very sad. I got to meet him a few times at Rally Australia when I was working in the meda centre. He was a great guy and well loved. He was a hit with the girls just like Chris Atkinson is now. On a good day no one could beat him. May he resdt in peace Dallas

The Michelin Pilot Sport PS2'S won the perrformace tyre shootout in MOTOR this month. They are an awsome tyre. Just a get as loan to buy em though. Cro can vouch fore em and so can I. I think they improve the T greatly and a great performace enhancement. I had em on my T Dallas
